David Lemie - Canadian boxing star

The North American continent is rich in outstanding boxers, who were able to get not only different world titles and titles, but also the recognition of a rather fastidious audience. One of those fighters who always perform brilliantly and effectively is David Lemieux - a promising professional boxer from Canada, who for some time owned a prestigious championship belt.

Curriculum Vitae

The athlete was born in Montreal on December 20, 1988. His father is a Quebecer, and his mother is an Armenian, who came to live in Canada from Lebanon. However, the education of the boy was not done by his own father, but by his stepfather, who wears the surname Melikyan. As David Lemier himself says, he speaks Armenian well and was educated in the traditions of this people. Also, in addition to the mother's mother tongue, the fighter speaks fluent English, French, Spanish.

Sports career

David Lemieux came to boxing at the age of ten. Three times he managed to become the champion of Canada amateur. At the age of 17 the young man was fully prepared to become a professional, but the current Canadian legislation did not allow him to do so, and he was waiting for his majority.

In April 2007, David Lemieux first appeared in the ring as a professional. His first opponent was Jose Candelario Torres. Our hero was able to defeat him in the second round by technical knockout. Then followed a whole series of victorious for Lemieu duels, which he completed early. As a result, such success led to the fact that the athlete was given the right to fight for the WBC Intercontinental Championship title. Confronted him in this battle, Alvin Ayala, but David forced him to capitulate.

The first loss

In April 2011, Lemieux stepped into the ring to box with the representative of Mexico, Marco Antonio Rubio. The fight was of a qualifying nature, because its winner got the right to meet with the world champion.

Many expected that, like the previous battles of David Lemieux, this confrontation will not last all the allotted rounds. Strictly speaking, it happened, but the denouement was not in favor of the Canadian.

Already from the first moments David actively went ahead, bombarding with blows of the contender. But in the sixth three minutes, the Mexican seized the initiative, and already in the seventh round and did send the Canadian in a knockdown. Rubio managed to develop his success, which led to the surrender of an opponent. This defeat was the first in his career for David.

Lemier's next fight was also unsuccessful for him. This time, his offender was Joashen Alsin - ex-world champion. The battle proved to be quite competitive and lasted for all twelve rounds provided by the regulations of the organization. The outcome of the battle was a separate judicial decision in favor of Joashen, who managed to impose Lemieux on his tactics and manner of combat.

In the fall of 2012, David Lemieux, boxing for which is a matter of his life, knocked Alvaro Gaon out, and in December of the same year he defeated Albert Hayrapetyan twice, knocking him down twice during the match.

In June 2015, David finally got to the championship match. In the fight for the vacant IBF belt, he fought with the Frenchman Hassan N'Jiikam. The battle took place in his native Lemieux Montreal, and in many ways it was the native walls that helped the energetic Canadians win such a coveted world title.

In October 2015, David held the long-awaited for many boxing fans and specialists a duel with the most dangerous Kazakhstani Gennady Golovkin, which was to unite the WBA, IBO, IBF and WBC interim belts. Unfortunately, the Canadian lost by knockout in the eighth round and therefore not only could not increase the number of titles, but also lost his belt.
