Brackets: Types and Classification

Beautiful, smooth and shining whiteness (and sometimes diamonds) teeth are a pledge and a guarantee of successful acquaintances, a career, a sign of health and a status indicator. One of the most popular methods of creating an ideal smile is the braces. Their types are numerous, differ in price, materials and quality. Even very famous people do not refuse to wear braces in our time. Braces have long become a kind of indicator: they are not disgusting glands on teeth, it is a sign that people are striving for perfection and, moreover, has the means to do so.

In fact, very few people are really lucky with teeth. Only a small percentage of people actually have equal teeth and a proper bite. Some people do not pay attention to it, but many have problems with the appearance of their teeth. How often can you see a pretty girl or an attractive guy who hardly smile instead of laughing at some joke. And this is not because they do not have a sense of humor, they just worry because of crooked teeth ... Alas, uneven teeth and an incorrect bite are visible not only when a person smiles, they often deform the face, depriving him of his inherent harmony by nature.

But braces have existed since the 20s of the 20th century, however, they were far from being as aesthetic as now, and they only had to be worn by US residents. In Russia, braces came much later - after the perestroika. However, our country quickly made up for lost time and now in Russia it is possible to install a variety of braces, the kinds of which are as numerous as in the country where they appeared.

All braces, regardless of their type, have the same device: they are small locks (actually, they are called braces), which are fixed on each tooth. There are tiny holes in them, through which an arc is passed. By moving the arc, the alignment of the tooth row occurs. However, despite the fact that the principle of the operation of braces is the same, it is quite difficult to choose from the whole variety suitable for you braces.

Types of braces

The most common in our time, paradoxically, are ceramic braces. This is a rather expensive type of braces, but their quality, coupled with aesthetic appeal, makes them very popular. Of all the types of external braces, it is the ceramic braces that are the most imperceptible. They do not change color due to the use of products containing the coloring substances, and when they are removed, the enamel is not injured. A subset of ceramic braces are sapphire crystals, which some people wear even as decorations.

Significantly cheaper types of braces are metal. However, their external unattractiveness makes people pay more, especially when it comes to installing an adult. However, in terms of their qualities and curative effect, such braces are no worse than ceramic braces.

A certain average variation is a plastic bracket. They are cheaper than ceramic, but are more attractive than metal ones. There is also an improved version of such braces - composite. They are stronger than plastic, have a wide color range (ie, they can be picked up exactly in tone to the teeth) and do not cause allergies.

A serious step in the development of orthodontics was the emergence of Damon braces, which are self-regulating. They are much more comfortable and more comfortable than any other braces, the duration of treatment with their help is reduced, in addition, with such braces to visit the dentist needs much less.

For those who do not like the appearance of braces, the types of which are listed above, they invented internal braces - lingual. They are fixed from the inside of the teeth and completely non-commemorative. However, with such braces you will have to walk longer, and it's inconvenient to get used to them.

If we talk about the classification of braces, then it can be carried out not only on the material. Braces are removable and non-removable. Removable braces are such designs that you can wear not all day, but, say, 12-14 hours a day, taking them off for work or, say, a date. Of course, such brackets are very attractive to adult patients, but their disadvantage is that they are practically ineffective for adult patients, with their help only the milk teeth are well adjusted.
