Calcium nitrate: characteristics and scope
Calcium nitrate (calcium nitrate) is a crystalline, very solid compound of white color, which is odorless.
It should also be noted that under normal conditions this connection is fire and explosion-proof, non-flammable and stable within -60 to +155 ° C, but when working with it, one should use protective clothing, as well as individual protective equipment.
Calcium nitrate: application
The composition of calcium nitrate is 15% nitrogen, and 26% CaO, which allows it to be widely used in agriculture to compensate for the shortage of these elements in the soil, as well as for plant nutrition.
A sufficient concentration of nitrogen is necessary for the development of leaf mass, the synthesis of amino acids, proteins and chlorophyll. Calcium is responsible for the formation of new cells, helps to strengthen the trunk and roots of plants. Taking this into account, calcium nitrate is used for yellowing of leaves and their coagulation with a ringlet, the appearance of point necrosis in the form of small round spots of dark brown color, and also with a weak root system, its decay and stopping the growth of the plant stem. In addition, the use of this fertilizer prevents the development of vertex rot in tomatoes, as well as burns of lettuce leaves. It should also be noted that calcium nitrate when applied to acid soil eliminates the excess concentration of iron and manganese.
Nitric acid calcium is used in the form of liquid root or foliar dressings. In this case, drip irrigation systems, special installations, hose, fan or knapsack sprayers can be used . I must say that the norm of the working solution of calcium nitrate is generally accepted and depends on the type of fertilizing and the type of plants.
I must say that calcium nitrate is used not only as a fertilizer for plants. It is also an additive for concrete, which can significantly increase its strength. In addition, this connection prevents corrosion of the reinforcement, protects building materials from the effects of low temperatures, is used in the manufacture of brine refrigerators, various reagents and fiberglass, and also as an important component of explosives.
