Dali's paintings: an overview

It is said that little Salvatore wrote his first painting at the age of ten. It resembled an impressionistic landscape, it was painted on a wooden board with simple oil paints. In a small room, Dalí sat for days on end, and by the time he was fourteen, his original, clearly expressed talent had taken on quite real forms, and Dali's paintings were an obvious professionalism of performance.

Painting, literature, cinema

In 1921, El Salvador enters the Academy of Arts in Madrid. In the 1930s, the young artist admired the work of the Futurists, but he was already thinking about creating his own style in art. Important in the work of Salvador Dalí had literature. He writes and publishes his works on outstanding artists of various eras, acquainted and friendly with the poet Lorca. The natural genius is talented in everything he touches: an acquaintance with Luis Bonuelle served as an occasion for their joint creativity in later years (The Andalusian Dog in 1929 and The Golden Age in 1931 were written according to the scenarios of the great artist).

The influence of cubism and the first exhibitions

In the early 30's, the attention of the young artist was focused on Cubism and the creations of another genius - Pablo Picasso. Thus, for example, in the style and method of Dali's painting Young Girls (1923), the apparent influence of this trend can be traced. In 1925 a personal exhibition of the artist takes place. It featured 27 paintings and several drawings made by Salvador Dali. The paintings are a success and are accompanied by the epatage of the master. And in 1926 El Salvador moved to Paris, which has a huge influence on the artist's further work.

Surrealism

In Paris, a young artist joins a group of surrealists led by Henri Burton, who eagerly disgusts the public with various actions and violent behavior. A new direction in art completely captures the imagination of El Salvador. New paintings by Dali - "Honey Sweeter than Blood", "Light Joys" - contain elements of aesthetics of surrealism. The previously mentioned film, shot in the same vein: "Andalusian dog" is published. By the end of 1929, surrealism was becoming noticeable, but for many, a controversial and unacceptable art direction.

Gala

In 1929, Dali met Elena Dyakonova (Gala), who became the artist's muse for many years. In 1930, Dali's paintings "Flowing Time", "Memory Permanence" and others bring him wide popularity and popularity. And Gala finally gets a divorce from Paul Eluard, whose wife was in fact, and marries the already famous artist (1934). A little earlier the artist broke with the Breton group, stating his famous: "Surrealism is me!"

Salvador Dali: paintings

"Metamorphoses of Narcissus" (1937) - one of the most famous paintings of the artist. The theme of the painting is directly related to the philosophy of art. Simultaneously with the canvas appears literary work "Metamorphosis of Narcissus. Paranoid theme ", which in turn was the continuation of the work" The Conquest of the Irrational ", where Dali formulates his theory of the paranoid-critical method in art.

Dali draws Narcissa inclined near the water. The character looks at her. Nearby - a collapsing stone, repeating the outlines of the hero of the plot, but he - at the same time - reminds and an onion with a flower growing from it. In the background - a group of naked, and the third narcissus-like figure appears on the horizon. Such originality and ambiguity in the interpretation of the image of Narcissus (as well as many images of the artist's paintings) required additional explanations. El Salvador even wrote a poem in verse to his painting.

Dali - near!

In the subsequent paintings, such as Atomic Leda, The Christ of Saint Juan de la Cruz, The Last Supper, The Sodom Self-Gratuity of an Innocent Maiden, and many others, the artist continues to shock the public by formulating the laws of "nuclear mysticism", and the critics of all Suits vying to compete in order to come up with a description of paintings for Dali , worthy of a great genius. But also accessible to the perception of an ordinary person.
