Growing potatoes in a barrel

  1. First, pack with taro. It is not necessary that they are barrels, large plastic containers for garbage, or other large containers that you have in the country. Treat all packagings with a soft bleach solution to prevent plant diseases.
  2. Growing potatoes at the dacha in this way implies good drainage, so be sure to make small holes (about 2 cm) at the bottom of the container. If desired, you can even cut off the whole bottom, if in your plans put the container on the soil of the site.
  3. Then, at the bottom of the container, fill in a drainage mixture with a depth of 12-18 cm. For example, it can be a mixture of compost, moss and nutshells. Such a mixture will help preserve moisture for the root system of plants.
  4. Place the tubers on a layer of soil. Make sure that they are not very close to each other. After this, pour the potatoes with a layer of soil (12-14 cm) and pour abundantly. It is important that the soil is moist all the time, but it is also not worth pouring plants.
  5. When plants grow, it is necessary to make the first soil with soil compost. Sprinkle the ground with the further growth of potatoes until the entire container is filled.

That's all, it remains to wait until the potatoes grow and blossom, and after a few weeks to begin harvesting. But seasoned summer residents say that growing potatoes at the dacha in this way allows you to harvest a good harvest. And this despite the fact that care throughout the year was minimal and not at all complicated.
