Cream "Argosulfan" refers to the pharmacological group of antiseptics and disinfectants, to a subgroup of sulfonamides. It is an antibacterial agent for topical application that activates the process of wound healing (purulent, burn, trophic, etc.), effectively protecting wounds from infection. The drug "Argosulphan" reduces the feeling of pain and burning in the wound, shortens the healing period and the time it takes to prepare the wound for a skin transplant operation.

The form and composition of the drug "Argosulfan"

The instruction informs, that in 1 g of a cream contains an active substance - sulfatiazola silver salt - 20 mg. The product is available in aluminum tubes, volume 15 and 40 g. It is a white or almost uniform soft cream.

Pharmacotherapy of Argosulfan cream

The instruction indicates that the main pharmacological action of the drug is antibacterial. The sulfatiazole from the sulfanilamides group present in the cream provides a wide range of antibacterial and bacteriostatic effects on gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.

The mechanism of such influence is to suppress the growth and division of bacteria, which is due to competitive antagonism with PABA and inhibition of dihydropteroate synthetase.

Indications for the use of the drug "Argosulfan"

The instruction prescribes the use of the cream for burns of various severity and any origin (thermal, chemical, solar, radiation, electric current, etc.), frostbite.

This medication is also used in bedsores, trophic ulcers of the shin of various etiologies, purulent wounds, minor domestic injuries (cuts, abrasions).

In addition, the cream "Argosulphan" is used in the treatment of infected dermatitis, simple contact dermatitis, complicated impetigo, microbial eczema, streptophiloderma.

Contraindications to the use of the drug "Argosulfan"

The guideline does not recommend the use of the drug for hypersensitivity, congenital glucose-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency, in early childhood, and also in connection with the possibility of the appearance of nuclear jaundice.

You can not use it during pregnancy. In the lactation period, the medication is prescribed only when the burn amount is not more than 20% of the skin, and the therapeutic benefit for the mother prevails over the possible risk for the child.

Side effects

Mode of application

The cream "Argosulphan" is used for external treatment of wounds by the open method and in the form of bandages (occlusal). After the wound is cleaned and surgically processed, it is applied with aseptic cream to a maximum of 2-3 mm. In a day the application of the drug is done 2-3 times.
