Concrete drainage tray: availability and reliability

An important task in the construction of various structures, the construction of communication routes and highways is the removal of rain, melted and technical waters from these objects. For this purpose, a water drainage tray is used. In addition to draining water, it allows it to pass to the outlet point to the surface or to the collector. This construction consists of a base (cage) made of heavy concrete, a culvert and a water intake grate that protects the tray from debris and other foreign objects entering the system. The grid also serves to organize the safe movement of pedestrians and vehicles on the surface of the tray.

Drainage trays are classified according to the design features:

  • Products equipped with a steel corner, provide a hard way of mounting and securing the water intake grate. Such a drainage tray is most often used in places in which an active transport stream is understood. Due to the rigid bolt fastening of the grilles on the tray, transport without interference crosses the water intake line. These trays are capable of withstanding loads up to F900 and therefore can be mounted in highly loaded transport areas.

  • Trays, without steel corners. They can be used in two versions: do not cover with grilles and cover with concrete covers and grilles.
The first option is used in places where traffic or pedestrian traffic is not implied, but there is a need to divert water.
If it is necessary to use this type of trays in places with transport passage, they are covered with concrete gratings. The latter represent a new development of the Malinovsky Combine of reinforced concrete products, which makes it possible to economically save on the purchase of cast iron grids, while not worsening the performance indicators. If a small load is assumed to B125, the tray can be covered with a galvanized steel grating.

  • Used in the railway industry trays MSL and MPL. They are equipped with drainage holes, because in addition to draining water from the surface, it can drain it from the earth's mass.

  • Cable ducts for the installation of cable and electrical routes.

It should be noted that the drainage chutes are produced by two methods:

  • Using vibrocompression. In this case, both the vibrating table and the press are simultaneously acting on the concrete. As a result, the mass of concrete is evenly distributed, and the exact shaping of the tray is also ensured. However, such products are not subject to permanent vibration. Because they can be mounted along motorways.

  • Vibration, when the press is not used in production. As a result, the density of the product is not uniform, which reduces the stability. But such products are excellent for private households, parks, gardens, etc. and have a lower cost.
