If you think that broiler youngsters are ordinary chickens that need to be taken care of just like all the rest of their chicken fraternity, then you are mistaken. The fact is that a small chicken broiler in just 2-3 months turns into a large individual weighing up to 8 kg, or even more. But at the same time he is very vulnerable at an early age. Problems with the digestive system, inability to control your body temperature, lack of enzymes - all this can cause disease of broilers, and their treatment will be effective only if the poultry breeder has certain knowledge.

How to contain broiler chickens

Poor living conditions are a direct way to chicken disease, and their treatment, first of all, must begin with the arrangement of the premises. To do this, clean it and disinfect it with a solution of conventional bleach. Walls should be dry, it will be better if you bleach them with lime. If you are still not completely sure of the sterility, then after all the procedures for landscaping, treat the room with formalin. Close tightly the windows and doors for a day, and then ventilate well. It is advisable to restrict the chickens from communicating with other birds, especially with adults.

Broiler diseases and their treatment

Consider the most common diseases of chickens:

  • Avitaminosis, that is, lack of vitamins (especially A, D and B). If there is not enough vitamin A, the young growth lags behind in growth, the mucous membrane of the eyes and the respiratory tract are affected. The lack of vitamin D is the direct route to rickets (as in humans), and the deficiency of B vitamins can result in paralysis. For the prevention and treatment of vitamin deficiencies, chickens should be fed intensively with herbs, carrots and other vegetables, as well as giving the means containing these vitamins.

  • Cannibalism of chickens (when a youngster bites each other). Bright light in the room and poor nutrition are the cause of this disease of broilers, and their treatment is to add protein, amino acids and minerals to the feed. Feed on time and make sure that there is always water in the water bowl, make the lighting less bright. If you find cracked chickens, then isolate them from healthy ones and lubricate the wounds with antiseptics. Find the instigator of the fight and also isolate him, as he, having tasted blood on the taste, will continue to bring you trouble.

  • Enteritis is a disease that occurs in chickens of the earliest age and leads to large loss of livestock. This inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract is treated with antibiotics, biomycin and a solution of potassium permanganate.

In addition to these, there are also infectious diseases of broiler chickens, their treatment is carried out with the same medicines as with the above diseases. To the ailments of this category include pullorosis (white diarrhea), coccidiosis (diarrhea in the form of foam with a trace of blood) and aspergillosis (caused by mold fungi).

Observe the conditions of the maintenance, and also ensure the full nutrition of the chickens in order to minimize the diseases of broilers, and their treatment will then go faster, and possibly even avoid disease. Otherwise, there is a risk of incurring considerable losses in connection with the mass retreat of the young.
