Who to be? What kind of activities do you want to do in later life? These questions put young people after leaving school in order to choose the future profession. Someone from childhood wanted to be a doctor or a teacher, while other graduates are at a crossroads, not knowing who to become. After all, the world of professions includes about forty thousand different specialties. To determine the choice of life path will help classify professions.

The method of J. Holland

Abroad, the methodology of John Holland's psychology professor is widespread, he introduced the scale of fitness of personality types to various professional directions. The developed scheme is presented in the form of a hexagon, each vertex of which corresponds to certain properties of character and abilities that determine the type: realistic, artistic, intellectual, social, entrepreneurial, conventional (generally accepted norms and traditions). This psychological classification of professions assesses the compatibility of the individual with a particular working environment.

The main thing in J. Holland's theory is that job satisfaction and career success depend on the correspondence of the type of personality to the type of environment of the chosen profession. Employees of one activity create a certain environment, corresponding to one of six personal types. Based on the results of the study, there are three professional environments recommended for choosing future work. The first of these will most reflect the type of personality, and the second and third, which are less significant, will help to select reserve types of professions.
