Citovir-3: instructions for use

In practical medicine, the "Citovir-3" agent has been used since 2001. It is considered an antiviral drug, which is still today a drug of choice in the treatment of both acute respiratory viral infection in the early stages, and as a prophylactic against influenza A and B.

The main active substances - thymogen sodium and bendazole - contribute to the production in the human body of an endogenous protein - interferon, which has an immunomodulatory effect. This means that during periods of exacerbation of diseases such as influenza and SARS, under the influence of the drug "Citovir-3" immunity gradually normalizes until the moment of full recovery of the sick person.

A component such as ascorbic acid is also part of the drug "Citovir-3." The instruction to this drug indicates that the addition of this acid to the drug normalizes the permeability of the capillaries, which leads to a reduction in inflammation. In addition, the antioxidant properties of this substance are well known, which neutralizes the oxygen radicals formed during the course of any inflammatory process.

The main forms of the drug "Citovir-3" are capsules made of yellow gelatin (12 pieces per pack), each containing 1 mg of active ingredients, and also a children's syrup of yellow color in 50 ml vials with a measuring spoon-dispenser.

Indications for use and dosage

As an indication to the use of the drug "Cytovir-3" the instruction indicates the prevention and symptomatic treatment of influenza and other acute respiratory viral infections in the early stages. For this purpose, the drug should be taken about 30 minutes before meals. Capsules "Citovir-3" is prescribed for children over 6 years and adults for 1 piece three times a day for four days.

As the instruction to "Citovir-3" indicates, the syrup can be taken even by small children, starting from the first year of life in the following dosage: for children from one to three years - 2 ml of syrup three times a day, from three years to six - by 4 ml of syrup 3 times a day, from six to ten years - 8 ml of syrup the same number of times per day.

Children older than 10 years and adults syrup "Citovir-3" is prescribed in the amount of 12 ml three times a day for 4 days. However, such an approach is not entirely inexpedient for financial reasons. One package of medicine in the form of capsules is designed for one course, but for the same course of syrup (according to the dosage specified in the instructions) you will need to purchase at least three bottles containing 50 ml of the drug. While the cost of packages of both forms of output is practically the same. That is, for the pleasure of taking Citovir-3 syrup, an adult needs to be paid three times as much as in case of using a medicine in the form of capsules.

The repeated course of preventive administration of the drug "Citovir-3" is recommended by the Instruction to be carried out after a month, not more often.

Despite a number of positive effects, the drug "Citovir-3" has some contraindications for use. In a number of conditions in which the use of "Citovir-3" is not recommended, the following:

• increased sensitivity to individual components of the drug;

• diabetes;

• thrombophlebitis;

• Muscular hypertonicity;

• arterial hypertension;

• pregnancy;

• bronchial asthma.

In addition to the obvious contraindications, the "Citovir-3" medication is prescribed for use with extreme caution in the case of various kidney diseases, as well as for younger children. At the same time, it is recommended to control blood pressure, glucose concentration in the blood, and also kidney work during the drug intake.

Cases of various side effects in the interaction of the drug "Cytovir-3" with other drugs has not yet been identified. Therefore, usually in the annotation to the medication indicated that in these doses, this drug can be used simultaneously with all medicines that are usually prescribed for ARVI and influenza.
