Ciderates are natural green fertilizers

For any plant, the soil is his home. Therefore, each blade of grass performs a huge work to improve its housing. Plants with their roots loosen the soil, and after the death of the roots they are used by microbes and worms, which fill the soil with nitrogen. With their leaves they protect the earth from blowing and blurring, and also shade from the sun, not allowing to crack. It turns out that it is the plants that create the soil.

What are the siderates? These are plants (a mixture of plants) that are sown in order to fill the soil with food and organic. After growing crops, the earth is scarce, it loses most of the nutrients. And the syderates are used to return nutrients to it . This is the most economical, simple and environmentally friendly way of fertilizing the soil. This is especially important for those places where the same crops are grown every year and there is simply no possibility of applying a crop rotation.

Ciderates are plants that can quickly form a green mass. They have a beneficial effect on the soil and structure it. If the soil is loose, they will strengthen it, make it connected. A clay, heavy soil, on the contrary, loosen, increase the access of moisture and air to it. In addition, they will increase the activity of microflora, and acidity will decrease. The soil will be enriched with organic, particularly valuable growth stimulants, enzymes and nutrients. Ciderates are particularly effective on low-humus sandy loams and sandy areas, but their application to clay soils gives a noticeable result.

Common siderates are alfalfa, sweet clover, peas, clover, lupine, vetch, rank and other leguminous plants. Often, cereals are used as siderates . Of these, oats are considered the most preferable, as it is most abundant in silicon, potassium and phosphorus. You can also plant mustard and canola. After the mustard, the soil is especially good for onions, radishes, garlic and radishes.

For those who keep their own apiary, the best are the honey siderates - it is sunflower, buckwheat and phacelia. They guarantee the forage base of bees, on which the harvest in the garden and in the garden largely depends. And the most lazy farmers need to plant a long lupine.

This fertilizer is grown in two steps. Cedarata in spring or autumn are sown directly into the soil by fresh plowing. They are planted before planting the main crop and after harvesting. In the gardens, they are sown by row spacing. There a continuous method is used: one harvest of siderates is harvested and the next one is immediately planted. In the garden a week before you need to plant the main culture, the siderat is cut with a shovel or cut off and immediately buried. If there is dry weather, the buried fertilizer will have to be watered, so that the decomposition process will go faster.

Phacelia - siderat, which in a short time the green mass is growing. Only 40 days will pass from the moment of planting, and beautiful blue flowers appear , collected in inflorescences with 70 small flowers. The root of the phaceli in a short time will penetrate 20 cm deep, thereby greatly improving the air exchange and loosening the soil. This plant is sown at any convenient time, as it can withstand even freezing on the soil surface. In addition, after phacelia, the number of nematodes, other pests and pathogenic bacteria is significantly reduced. It also attracts useful insects and is a honey-bearer, which is especially important for gardeners. In a word, a phacelia is an excellent siderate. It will not only enrich the soil with organic matter, will greatly improve the situation in the beds, but will also bring aesthetic pleasure.
