Chronic tonsillitis, treatment and prevention.

Chronic tonsillitis is a lesion of lymphoid tissue in the throat of an infectious nature. More often it develops as a consequence of a decrease in immunity and a decrease in the body's ability to resist infections. The lymphoid tissue increases, trying to provide the body with maximum protection against infection, but such protection often leads to the fact that a perfect environment for the reproduction of viruses and bacteria is formed in the lacunae. Increased sensitivity of the body to allergic components can only provoke chronic tonsillitis, whose treatment will then be long and often unworthy effective.

Symptoms of chronic tonsillitis

Exacerbation of tonsillitis begins with a swallowing in the throat, pain when swallowing, sometimes with a sensation of a foreign body in the tonsils, often there is an unpleasant smell from the mouth, the allocation of caseous plugs. The disease is often accompanied by subfebrile body temperature, headache, decreased performance and, in some cases, coughing attacks.

Causes of the onset and development of chronic tonsillitis

The cause of the onset and development of chronic tonsillitis is most often a sore throat, but it is by no means always the only cause. Infectious diseases of the nasopharynx (pharyngitis, stomatitis, adenoiditis, paradontosis) can also become a trigger mechanism for the onset of chronic tonsillitis.

Chronic tonsillitis. Treatment. Complications.

If tonsillitis and chronic tonsillitis is not accompanied by pain in the throat, high fever, then patients are often not in a hurry to go to the doctor, and yet complications of untreated diseases can be quite serious. If you do not treat chronic tonsillitis, it can lead to serious complications: damage to the heart, joints, development of jade, rheumatism.

Chronic tonsillitis. Treatment.

Most often, tonsillitis and tonsillitis are caused by streptococci, which are sensitive to the effects of aminopenicillins and penicillins. Preparations of these groups are the main ones in the treatment of such diseases. A new direction in the treatment of chronic tonsillitis are antibiotics from a number of macrolides (Azithromycin, Chemomycin, Erythromycin, Sumamed), they demonstrate efficacy against bacterial flora, which most often causes the development of chronic tonsillitis. Macrolides have the ability to accumulate in the lymphoid tissue, this fact determines a fairly high efficiency when treated in small doses. The intake of macrolides does not cause adverse reactions, which is why it is possible to cure chronic tonsillitis with their help.

Treatment of chronic tonsillitis, as a rule, consists in increasing immunity, eliminating inflammatory processes, and antibacterial treatment. Local treatment (physiotherapy, washing tonsils) often strengthen the effect of treatment. In uncomplicated forms of tonsillitis conservative treatment is shown, if it does not give an effect, surgical removal of tonsils is used.
