Choose Brick For Furnace And Fireplace.

When building stoves and fireplaces, it is necessary to take into account that in the furnace the temperature reaches 800-900 degrees. At such temperatures, the use of conventional building materials is undesirable, since it can be the reason for the decrease in the service life. In the construction of furnaces and fireplaces, as a rule, a refractory red brick or fireclay bricks is used.

Oven bricks made of red clay are made on the basis of dense clay, which gives it advantages in aggressive environments in comparison with ordinary ceramic bricks. When laying a stove or fireplace, it is worth remembering such a property of a ceramic product as freezing and thawing. After all, the strength and durability of the structure depends on the number of cycles passed. Frost resistance of bricks is perhaps the main property, after the heat resistance, which must be taken into account in the construction of furnaces in country houses, where the heating of the premises is not constant.

Guided by these arguments, I would like to draw attention to the firebrick or, as it is called, fireclay brick. It is refractory brick used in masonry, in which the use of conventional materials is not permissible. The main consumers of fireclay products are the industrial enterprises of the glass and metallurgical industries, but with the development of construction in the private sector, fireproof bricks became available to every quality connoisseur. Fireclay bricks are used in extreme environments where the temperature rises to 1500 degrees, so using this material in a conventional home oven will only increase its lifetime by several times.

There are a large number of varieties and brands of refractory bricks on the market, but there is no need to know everything in person. The most popular materials for stove business are chamotte brick SHA-5 and chamotte brick SHA-8. They can also use their "analogs" - chamotte bricks ШБ-5 and fireclay bricks ШБ-8. The difference between brands is not great, and is about 50 degrees Celsius. The dimensions of fireclay bricks are larger than those of conventional ceramic, which allows to reduce the number of used products in the masonry. This is relevant, since the cost of refractory bricks is much higher than usual.

The distinctive features of refractory bricks are its regular geometric shapes. This feature is extremely necessary to achieve direct lines and horizons in the laying of stoves and fireplaces. The color of fireclay bricks is sandy-straw. It is this factor that often becomes the basis for the use of the material in the cladding.

As it became clear from the text, to achieve high-quality and long-term results it is necessary to use good materials. When laying these materials, it is also necessary to take into account the quality of the mixture used in the masonry. Preparation of masonry mortar is a rather labor-intensive process, not so much physically as information. Those. It is necessary to know the correct proportions so that the quality of the masonry does not result from the destruction of the structure. The furnace and fireplace masonry is carried out with a joint thickness of not more than 5 mm, and such results can be achieved by properly preparing the mixture. Refractory brick is put on clay mortar with the addition of cement and fireclay filler. To achieve the best performance, it is recommended to use specialized materials: cement alumina GC-40 and aluminous cement GC-50. As a filler, we usually use chamotte filler ZSHA and chamotte filler ZSHB. If the material is found, for whatever reason, unavailable, sand may be used as a filler. Of course, the use of aluminous cement and fireclay aggregate is not a prerequisite, and you can use the usual building materials available in most markets.

The simplest option for the construction of a fireplace or stove will be the use of ready-made refractory masonry mixtures prepared in the factory in accordance with all norms and rules.

In addition to the merits given in the article, it is necessary to note the use of refractory bricks in the facing of fireplaces and stoves. It means that the sizes of refractory bricks allow you to decorate your stove, approaching the issue with a design fantasy. Also, fireclay bricks can be treated with special power tools. When working with material, you can use circular saws and grinders. Manual processing of products, without the use of power tools, is a laborious process and requires a lot of time.

Take into account the above qualities of refractory bricks. Perhaps your future stove, or your fireplace at the cottage will be made of this durable and high-quality material.
