How to configure the The Bat

The concepts of "Internet" and "E-mail" are so closely intertwined that in the minds of many are almost the same thing. For example, sometimes in a conversation between two users you can hear "Throw me a letter through the Internet." Of course, these are completely different things, but there is certainly a certain connection between them. The ability to receive and send e-mails is very important for life, therefore this type of communication is incredibly in demand today. For this reason, the number of correspondence transported by conventional postal services has fallen sharply in recent years.

Any computer owner knows that each task has its own software tool. For example, to work with documents in the system must be installed Microsoft Office suite or any of its analog; Recording of CDs - Nero prerogative; Listening to music - the Winamp case, etc. We indicated only the popular versions, of course, there are other software solutions. Using e-mail also requires its own program. One of them is The Bat. Setting it up is incredibly simple and accessible even for the beginner. This is what will be discussed in this article.

You can download the test version (for 30 days) on the Internet.

After installing and running, you need to configure The Bat, since it is not known on which resource the user has a mailbox. This is a very small "fee" for the possibility of choice. For example, setting up The Bat for Gmail involves entering into the program some data, Mail.ru - others, etc. All the necessary parameters can be easily found on the mail sites. Setting up The Bat will require knowledge of the names IMAP, SMTP and POP3. This information is public or available upon request.

In the "cap" of the program, go to the "Box" section and create a new one. Setting up The Bat involves specifying a user name (you can do anything - it will be displayed in the column "From ..."). You also need the address of the current e-mail - the same one with the "dog". Please note that the box is registered before the setting of The Bat begins.

Next, specify the supported protocol mode. Usually this is IMAP.

In the boxes below we list the addresses - the same ones that are listed on the mailing site.

The need for a check mark for authentication is determined by the selected site: sometimes it is necessary, sometimes it does not.

After clicking "Next" you need to enter your data for the mailbox: the full name of the view and the password for access.

This completes the basic settings. Then go to the "Box" menu and go to "Properties" and go to "Transport". Here we select the type of connection required for sending and receiving. If you have problems with STARTTLS, you can specify TLS. Ports are arbitrary, for example, 465 and 110. The "Authentication" button in the "Send" window allows you to specify specific parameters. Typically, standard POP3 and IMAP are sufficient. But in the "Receiving" window you need to specify the full name (with the dog) and the password.

It's that simple. Once again, we point out that each mail site requires the appropriate settings to be entered into the program. Universality, alas, not yet. Also note that some anti-virus solutions (for example, Avira) conflict with The Bat, so you have to disable the mail scan module or change the port address in the program.
