Is the Bounty Islands a myth or a reality?

With the islands of Bounty, we are familiar with the advertising video, offering to enjoy a chocolate bar with a delicate coconut filling. At the thought of this advertisement, we immediately see a picture of a deserted island with clear blue water, snow-white sand, green palm trees. But few people know that in fact, not for the Bounty Islands located south-east of New Zealand, but for the Thai island of Samui, they did not use the ads.

Why did the creators of the chocolate bar choose this name and confuse the tracks, picking up a delightful picture with tropical landscapes and giving it a completely different name? It's like calling Antarctica Africa, because the real islands of Bounty have nothing to do with azure clear waters, warm sands, palm trees with coconuts. Producer of a bar, probably, just picked up the most euphonious name and fantasized to this whole uninhabited island, where you can hide from all problems and worries.

Of the 13 small rocky patches of land is the island of Bounty. Where this miracle is located, it will be interesting to learn many, but few people suggest that it should be searched 650 km south-east of New Zealand. The palm is not here, and the vegetation is very scarce, because the climate is quite severe. The air temperature does not normally drop below 0 ° C, but does not rise above 12 ° C. Of all mammals, you can find seals here, as well as inaccessible rocks were chosen by flocks of penguins and albatrosses.

It is difficult to call the island of Bounty a paradise on earth. Prices for tours to this godforsaken place are unlikely to interest tourists, since the impassable coastal rocks do not facilitate the landing of passengers on passing ships. However, nobody is allowed here except members of scientific research expeditions, because Bounty is under the protection of UNESCO. In the XIX - XX centuries, hunters often visited the islands, attracted by a large number of seals, as a result of which virtually the entire population of mammals was exterminated. Now these animals live quietly here and multiply, their lives are not threatened.

Many are wondering why this name was given to the Bounty Islands, which contributed to this. It turns out that they were so named in honor of the English ship "Bounty", which was held in 1788 by a piece of land not yet discovered at that time. Perhaps this name would have remained very little known, if not for the case that occurred on the ship in 1789. Then a rebellion broke out on the ship, the rebels dropped the captain and his followers into the boat and set off on a free voyage across the ocean. Fortunately, no one was hurt, and after 7 weeks of wanderings the unfortunates were rescued.

The Bounty Islands are still unoccupied, except for members of expeditions that occasionally come to these harsh places for research, and the colony of penguins, flocks of albatrosses and hulking seals. This is a real uninhabited patch of land, but it has nothing to do with warm sunny days, clear water, snow-white sand, enchanting greenery.
