How to change the user name correctly?

Often, the owners of computers for various reasons, it becomes necessary to change the username. Whether it was an error when installing the system, or the installer did not enter what the customer wanted - the reasons are not so important. But, unfortunately, not everyone knows how to do it at all. Some do it not quite right. For example, in the operating system of the Windows family many start the "change user name" item. It is located in the control panel. But this does not guarantee that the username will be changed. In this case, there are often problems with authorization, as well as other character. But first things first.

Now we'll figure out why this is so, and how to do it right. People who are responsible for the convenience of using modern operating systems have been using two names for identification for a long time. In all systems, as a rule, there is a real user name (it is also called physical), and also a name to display in the system. The real one is used for utility tasks (domain authorization, input to other workstations, etc.), and the second one is used to display to end users.

Any computer will find it inconvenient to use the name Chapaev Vasily in his components and services . It will be easier for him to display chapaev_v. The user name, as you understand, is taken for an illustrative example. So, at the moment when you change the name through the setting in the control panel, only the display changes it. Thus, the change occurs only in the display name. Microsoft, for some reason, calls it "full name." When you have to configure authorization from another computer on the network, you will not get the desired result by specifying that name.

So how do I correctly change the username? On the Internet, it is often written that this is done using the Users and Groups snap-in, if it is available. However, very often, many fail to do this because the system does not allow for changes in this field.

There is a way much easier, and the desired result is always achieved when using it. In the Windows 7 or XP operating system, start the command line console . It is done this way: press the "Start" button, then enter the CMD in the search line and press the input. The console is started. Now you need to type in this command: control.exe userpasswords2.

Before you open a window in which tick the "Require username and password" checkbox, then select the necessary users and run the "properties". Here you need to enter a new name and confirm with the "OK" button. After that, the computer will need to restart and log in already under your updated account.

Thanks to this uncomplicated method, many users have successfully replaced their name, but they have never encountered any problems (information loss, login complexity, etc.). At least, no one has ever said or written about this. Perhaps there are ways that differ from the above, but I do not know about it. And the main thing is always the result.
