How to choose wooden corners?

Recently, it has become popular to combine different styles and materials when designing the interior of a house. For example, very often you can find a mixture of metal and wood surfaces, while the design is executed harmoniously and uniquely. The synthetic materials in combination with natural ones also look good. For example, wooden corners can revitalize profiles of metal and polymer compounds, while creating an overall impression of warmth and comfort.

Why do you need corners from wood?

Wooden corners are a universal tool for the design of joints of different surfaces. These can be joints of window profiles or elements of door constructions and other cases. These design details give the interior a finished look and at the same time perform protective functions.

Corners protect the joints and the material itself from abrasion and other types of deformation and, in addition, help to hide some defects or flaws in the installation works of walls, windows and so on. Note that these design elements are referred to molded products, they are made of solid wood species, previously dried under special conditions. And as a result of this, the parts do not change their sizes during operation (they do not taper, do not crack, and so on).

Types of corners

Wooden corners are divided into the following types:

  • Outer element. It is used when connecting different surfaces of a rectangular shape. For example, this part can be decorated with walls trimmed with materials that mimic natural beams, euragonal, block house. In doing so, the corners will help create a harmonious combination of joints of different materials of various shades.
  • The inner corner. This element is used for butt joints of the skin materials of the walls at right angles. It is used much less often than the outer corner.

Choice of parts

Choose the corners for wooden structures by the following parameters:

  • On sale these products can be presented in different sizes. The length can be 2 or 3 m, and there are also laths of 2.5 m. The sections can be in the range of 10 × 10-100 × 100 (mm).
  • The degree of hardness of wood species significantly influences the quality of the parts manufactured from them. Therefore, when choosing molded products, attention should be paid to the materials from which they are produced. It may be useful to know what are the degrees of hardness of the tree: the first category (oak, boxwood, dogwood, acacia and others), the second (beech, ash, larch, maple and birch) and the third (pine, linden, fir, Cedar and others). Note that for outdoor decoration it is necessary to use wooden corners from the hardest rocks, so it is better to purchase elements from the materials of the first group. And for internal elements, beech, birch and so on, that is, a second degree of hardness.
  • When decorating the interior of a room where there is high humidity (kitchen or bathroom), it is better to use elements from the larch, as this is the most resistant material to the effects of steam and water.
  • When choosing products, you need to pay attention to their appearance. It is better to purchase parts without knots, twigs and so on. This is due to the fact that later, if improperly processed, cracks and chips may appear in them.

Using a wooden decorative corner in the design of the interior, you can significantly improve and even bring your own unique style to the ordinary interior. At the same time, you can experiment with shades and various additional details in the design.
