What associations do you have when you listen to the song "Wildflowers"? Surely many people will have first thoughts about chamomiles. We so fell in love with these delicate flowers with white petals and a yellow core that have placed them closer to the dwelling: in the front gardens and in the suburban areas.

But the chamomile was not always a resident of the European continent. From America its seeds "came" to Russia in the beginning of the XIX century. There chamomile fragrant was considered weed grass growing on fields with cereals. No one, perhaps, would have learned about the existence of this kind of "weed", if not for trade. Grain, intended for sale, was filled up in bags and loaded into the holds of steamers. Together with him in the distant voyage and sent seeds of chamomile. Bags on the continent were unloaded by means of special hooks in railway cars. As a result of such overloads, holes appeared in the burlap, although small, but sufficient for the seeds of the chamomile to "travel" along the Russian railways to leave their tracks along the route. About 30 years it took the plant to populate the expanses of the European part, penetrate into Siberia, the Far East and even reach the Arctic Circle. Now it grows on forest glades, along railways, on apiaries and along the banks of reservoirs.

It is very easy to harvest it, as chamomile grows in large thickets and is available for harvesting. Medicinal flowers are considered in the baskets. They are collected in dry, windless weather at the beginning of flowering. Drying of raw materials at a temperature of 40 ° C in ventilated areas in the shade. Do not overdry flowers. Preserved dried chamomile in canvas sacks in a dry place. Over the summer, you can make 4-5 pieces of raw materials.
