early years

Kahlo was born on July 6, 1907 in Mexico City. As the third child in the family of a "Jewish" German and a Mexican woman with an Indian child, she grew up without knowing the worries until she fell ill at age 6 with polio.
She was not completely healed, as the illness drained her right leg, causing a limp that Frida had hid to the last days with trousers and long skirts of national dresses. Frida Kahlo (the biography shows it) was just tempered from these adversities, despite her young age. Contrary to everything the future artist decided to lead the most active life, visiting sports sections and preparing to become a medic. Eyewitnesses claim that they could not believe in the problem with the leg, as Kalo "moved along the corridors with the swiftness of the swallow." It would seem that problems have been overcome, ahead of the future and the vast expanse of activity, but fate has decided otherwise.

Accident

At 18, Kalo Frieda got into a car accident - a bus in which she was traveling with her friend rammed a tram. The satellite got off with minor injuries, while the artist herself injured almost everything that could be done, among the main injuries were: a fracture of the spine in three places, a practically shattered pelvis and a foot, broken ribs. Among other things, the iron rod has pierced her stomach, reducing the possibility of ever becoming a mother to a minimum. Contrary to all predictions, Frida once again showed strength of spirit and survived. For many years she suffered more than thirty operations, was bedridden, tightened into an orthopedic corset and plaster cast. Cynical and terrible is the fact that it was because of this tragedy that the girl first took up a brush. Going insane from the loneliness and thoughts that tore her mind, she began to write self-portraits. Lying to do this was not easy, but the special stretcher and the mirror, located above the bed, helped in this endeavor. Later, Frida Kahlo artist expressed most of her torments and aspirations in self-portraits, all her creativity was built on them. Such a step was due not to narcissism. Judge for yourself: endless minutes, hours, days, she was left to herself, digging, cognizing, examining. The whole stream of emotions, forces and despair through which she perceived the world, appeared in her. The face on the canvas as an intermediary between the outer and the inner. Diego

The inner rod, whose hardness envied and titanium, did not fail, and this time - Frida rose to her feet, but did not abandon the drawing. Every step, every sigh of her now was accompanied by constant pain, but everything was not important - she stood it and is ready to move on. Kahlo found herself in the brush, but lacked self-confidence, so she decided to seek advice from the already famous at that time artist Diego Rivera. Again, the mockery of fate - then went to strengthen and find confidence, and found the greatest pain of her life. Diego impressed both the paintings, and the artist herself, and after a while he asked Frida for her hand. All the love, thrill and experience of the moment absorbed the diary of Frida Kahlo, which she led until the end of her life. Even the possibility of such an alliance the couple Kalo took with indignation, calling it "the marriage of an elephant and a dove," and it was not an exaggeration - Rivera was two decades older, a hundredweight heavier and generally looked like a good-natured cannibal. However, due to the incredible charisma, talent and sense of humor he was known as the conqueror of women's hearts, that's why the "cannibal" became practically his second name - he tied up, absorbed beautiful and talented women. After another serious conversation with the beloved's father, officially accepting and acknowledging the fact that Frida will have shaky health for the rest of her life and will never give him children, the "cannibal" received a blessing for marriage. Eyewitnesses say that the wedding itself was the quintessence of their future life - a fragile bride in a national costume, abundantly adorned with her favorite ornaments and flowers, and an elephant bridegroom, a feast of insanity and the former wife of Rivera, who at all lifted Kalo's skirt, exclaiming: "Look, On what matches Diego swapped my ideal legs! ". The apotheosis was the finger of one of the guests, who accidentally shot the fiancé in a fit of disorder. Truly, as you call a yacht, so it will float.

Living together

It was a volcano, without exaggeration. Kalo Frida, passionate, addicted, practically idolized her husband, recognizing his talent, but at the same time allowing himself to point out flaws in his work. Diego raged, crushed everything that came to hand, and left the house, while always coming back. For the sake of justice, it is worth noting that he did not raise his hand to his wife, although he did not disdain with such gestures earlier - one of his mistresses, that he gave birth to his daughter, he almost stabbed. Probably, this is due to the fact that he recognized her as an equal - both in spirit and in talent. However, this did not stop him stirring the skirts of all the women that met him on the road. Frida Kahlo, whose photo you can see below, was tormented, suffered, but did not stop loving.

Five years of joint dancing on a powder keg ended in a noisy rupture, but they did not learn to live separately from each other - a year later they came together again. The changes of her husband continued, as did the woes of his wife. Aspiring to somehow take revenge, the artist also started off in a dressing, putting both men and women into her bed. Naturally, Diego tore and metal, because, in his opinion, that Jupiter is available, not allowed to bull.

Leon Trotsky

Frida Kahlo, whose biography is very dramatic, together with her husband was an ardent admirer of the ideology of Leon Trotsky. In 1936, the last one, persecuted by Stalin, sent his feet to hot, hospitable Mexico at the invitation of Rivera, in order to honor his followers with his presence. However, Frida met them on arrival, as her husband was hospitalized with renal inflammation the day before. Accompanying them to her hereditary home, she, led by the desire to hurt her husband more painfully, decided to test her spell on Trotsky. Surprisingly, Leo succumbed, replacing the revolutionary fever with lower emotions. The piquancy of the situation was added by the fact that he came to visit with his wife, managing to change her with Kalo almost in front of her nose. The language barrier became an ally in this matter , as the wife spoke only Russian, but the air was not able to ignore the air and the views that her husband threw at the artist. All this led to the break of the Trotsky couple's relationship, after which Leo moved to Rivera's friend's estate. He wrote to Frieda for a letter, encroaching on a listless response. The revolutionary was anything but a blind man. Having accepted the fact that Kalo Frida does not want him, he asked to go back to his wife. Travel to Mexico was for Trotsky fatal - in 1940 he was killed by an NKVD officer.

Creation

All works of Kahlo differ bright individuality, you can not single out any mediocre picture that neither canvas, the nugget. However, in all that she wrote, it shows the bitterness of hopes that will not come true. Somewhere it is frank, somewhere - hardly noticeable, drowned out by an ode to nature in all its riot and triumph of life. Pain and passion seemed to be her brushes. Henry Ford Hospital

This painting, written in 1932, is the focus of Frida Kahlo's pain as a woman and mother. The canvas depicts the artist herself, who lost her child in this ill-fated hospital. Because of the monstrous injuries suffered after the accident, Kalo was unable to bear the baby, however, despite the frail health and warnings of doctors, she became pregnant three times, each time hoping for a miracle that never happened. The work shows us Frida, lying on a stingy hospital bed, drenched in blood. The body is round, still storing the memory of what was being prepared to feed the child. Three tapes that connect the artist with the unborn child, a snail - a slow course of pregnancy, and pelvic bones, which caused the tragedy. The background is dry, soulless America, which can not give rest. A miserable tear is shown by the real Frida Kahlo. Photos of that period are compressed lips, eyebrows like wings of a worried bird and endless hopelessness in dark eyes.

History condescendingly applies to those who have had the courage to escape and prove themselves, even if burned along the way. The family estate in Mexico, which became the beginning and the end for the artist, is now the museum of Frida Kahlo, in which there is an urn with her ashes. The atmosphere and the general atmosphere of the house are carefully guarded, in order to convey to the descendants at least a part of the spirit, life and light that were inherent in Kalo during his lifetime. The memory of Frida does not give up positions - films are being made about her, both documentary and artistic. It can not do without strange phenomena - recently a photo was leaked into the network, which depicts the artist next to the Russian poet Vladimir Mayakovsky. It caused a stir, the biographers tried to re-scratch all those written confirmations of the movements of the heroes, photos, in order to find out whether their meeting actually could have happened. Until now, there has not been a common denominator, but the likelihood that the photo depicting the half-naked armed Frida Kahlo and Mayakovsky on the left hand is not a fake. Regardless of how much the photo is true, the fascinating attractiveness of this pair is difficult to deny.
