Brown discharge before menstruation in women

The menstrual cycle of every healthy woman throughout its length provides for the presence of different vaginal discharge. They are associated with the phases of the cycle and the emission of female sex hormones. The norm is clear odorless discharge that thickens to the consistency of the chicken protein during the ovulation period. Sometimes some women develop brown discharge before menstruation. Many people are interested in the question: is it a norm or a pathology?

The female organism is a complex system that reacts to stresses, changes in the hormonal background, and also the presence of pathological processes in the genital organs. If there are brown secretions before menstruation, you should analyze what causes their occurrence, and also to reveal the frequency of their manifestation.

Factor 1. Stress

The work of the nervous system is closely related to the work of the hormonal system. Long-term experiences can lead to a malfunction in the production of hormones and, as a consequence, the appearance of brown secretions. Stressful situations include acclimatization occurring after a sharp change of natural zones as a result of flights.

Factor 2. Changes in the hormonal background

Abortion, hormonal contraception and the advancing age changes affect the hormonal background most of all. With abortion, artificial inhibition of the production of hormones aimed at retaining the fetus occurs, and temporary interruptions of the monthly cycle and various types of physiological disturbances can occur.

Hormonal contraception associated with the use of oral prolonged progestogen contraceptives, as well as established intrauterine spirals containing hormones, can cause brown discharge after sexual intercourse and before the monthly discharge for 2-3 months.

Age changes in the female body, associated with a fall in the level of progesterone, also lead to various kinds of changes in the habitual natural secretions.

Factor 3. Diseases of the endometrium and benign tumor processes

Brown discharge before menstruation in the absence of other factors most often indicates the development of endometriosis of the uterus or its neck.

With endometriosis of the uterus, along with brown secretions, there are pulling pains in the lower abdomen, which intensify with the onset of menstruation. On the ultrasound examination, the cellular structure of the endometrium of the uterus with small-cystic lesions is detected, and the presence of inhomogeneous nodes in the walls of the organ is also traced. The uterus is in a motionless, tonic, morbid state.

Endometriosis of the cervix is also a common modern pathology. Very often, its occurrence is associated with cauterization of cervical erosions. This pathology can occur against a background of severe labor, frequent abortions or diagnostic curettage. The diagnosis is confirmed by the colposcope, which reveals small reddish foci on the mucous membrane of the cervix, before the onset of the monthly increases and acquires a blue-purple hue.

Chronic endometritis can also be the reason for the appearance of brown discharge in girls and women before menstruation. It develops due to poorly treated postpartum and post-abortive endometriosis and in the early stages is imperceptible. He has another terrible sign - uterine bleeding. The secretions themselves acquire a dirty brown color and an unpleasant odor. The process is accompanied by the presence of pulling pains in the lower abdomen. The uterus is compacted and painful.

Benign neoplasms include hyperplasia of endometrial cells and the appearance of polyps. Symptoms include a disorder of the menstrual cycle. The diagnosis is confirmed by an ultrasound examination and histological samples.

If there are brown discharge before the monthly for more than 2 months of the cycle, a thorough gynecological examination is absolutely required.
