When the plant blooms, it is magnificent, but doubly good, if it also has decorative leaves. If you want to kill two birds with one stone, then pay attention to the following species.

  1. Anthuriums. Professionals consider them to be real leaders in indoor floriculture among other members of the family Aroids. Tropical plants pamper their owners with bright colors (red, pink, carmine), and the rest of the time dense leathery leaves with a beautiful wiry pattern. The most popular species are Anturium Andre, Scherzer, crystal, majestic. This species is headed by the most famous names of red room flowers.

Plants with a rest period

All of them are distinguished by the luxuriant flowering and the expressed rest time, when the ground part dies, and the tuber winters in the ground. Care for them is simple enough, but you need to adjust to the biological rhythm of the plant.

Representatives of Amaryllis

This is a fairly large family of predominantly bulbous plants, distributed throughout the globe, except for Antarctica, but is most abundant in the tropics and subtropics. In indoor floriculture in Russia, the most popular are four species with large flowers, reminiscent of lilies. All of them have a pronounced period of winter peace.

  1. Klivia (pictured) - a native of Africa, reaches a height of up to half a meter. Flowers are collected in a neat umbrella on a high peduncle. A bright and spectacular plant.
  2. Amaryllis. A plant with a large bulb that almost half peeps out of the earth. With proper care, the flower stem rises to 100-120 cm. There are 2-4 large flowers on it, from white to dark red.
  3. Hyppeastrum. This representative of the family is often confused with the previous species. The main difference in the number of peduncles, he can have several.
  4. Euharis. The second name is the Amazon lily. With proper care, flowers bloom twice a year.

Magnificent begonias

It is an indoor flower, the name of which is known to many, but weakly represents their impressive diversity. An extensive genus of plants includes about 800 species, and at the present stage more than 2000 varieties are also derived. Shrub forms are characterized by rapid growth, and tuberous forms are lush and bright flowering. For all representatives, the asymmetric shape of the leaf is characteristic, while they can be monophonic or with bright veins, spots, etc. Plants are unpretentious and can easily grow in the penumbra.

The Umburian Violets

Their second name is the senpolia, familiar to all names. There are many beautiful indoor flowers, but this group stands apart. There are whole associations and, as they say, groups of interests - people engaged in special breeding of these plants. Their popularity they found in the 20 th century. Due to the miniature size, they do not take up much space, but bloom year-round. Senpolii prefer bright places, but penumbra tolerate well. Demanding moisture of soil and air.

Succulents

If you do not have the opportunity and time to take care of indoor plants constantly or in an apartment too little space, then be sure to pay attention to succulents. Classical representatives are cacti, but about them a little later. However, in addition to them, this group includes a lot of different plants from more than 40 families. A characteristic feature - fleshy stems and leaves, rich in moisture. But besides this, some have unusual and vivid colors. Here are only three of the most famous and common.

  1. Kalanchoe - indoor flower, whose name is known if not all, then many. Mostly it is known as a medicinal plant. However, there are many species with high decorative properties. For example, the Kalanchoe of Blossfeld (pictured) has a large number of beautifully flowering varieties.
  2. Guernia. Another common genus of plants in indoor floriculture. It consists of a branching stem of 4-5-faceted form, there are no leaves at all. Flowers appear unexpectedly and literally before our eyes. They look simply amazing, something cosmic and unearthly, the only minus is not a very pleasant smell.
  3. Stapelia. Plants in appearance resemble the previous genus. Spectacular flowers are large enough and last for 10-12 days.

Flowering cacti

A significant group of succulent plants (5 thousand species) attracts attention not accidentally. They are mostly compact, are satisfied with rare watering, wintering passes generally at rest. At the same time, they are effective, and some are distinguished by bright flowering. For example, the "Decembrists" and epiphyllums familiar to everyone (in the photo below), which are truly gigantic in size. Or the genus of mammilia. Small cactuses are completely covered with small flowers of different colors.

And in the photo below you see a room flower, whose name is little known, but the appearance is a sign. It is usually called a cactus and a dot. Perhaps the most common representative of a large family in our homes is Echinopsis. It differs with its magnificent, but, unfortunately, short flowering.

How to choose?

Of all the variety of indoor plants without obvious preferences, choosing something can be quite difficult. Pay the first attention to the following aspects of the question:

  • How much time you are willing to spend on caring for flowers in the house;
  • How often you are not at home and for how long;
  • Lighting in a house or apartment (bright with southern windows, penumbra or a solid shady side);
  • Temperature and humidity of air, between apartments and private houses there are significant differences;
  • Area of housing.

Plants in the house are his ornaments, especially if they are healthy and bloom. In many ways success depends on the correct choice of the species, as well as your willingness to spend your time in caring for them. In front of you, only a short review, including both shade-loving indoor flowers (photo and name above), and light-loving.
