Biseptol: instructions for use

Sulfanilamidny drug "Biseptol", the instruction to which will be set out below, is a worthy alternative to antibiotics for people who have contraindications for the application of the latter.

The commercial name of the drug is Biseptol. The instruction contains the international name: "Co-trimoxazole". The drug is a combined antimicrobial agent, which includes a 5: 1 ratio of sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim.

Sulfamethoxazole, structurally analogous to para-aminobenzoic acid (PABA), adversely affects the synthesis of dihydrofolic acid in bacterial cells, preventing the penetration of PABA into the molecule of dihydrofolic acid. Trimethoprim activates the action of sulfamethoxazole, preventing the reduction of dihydrofolic acid in the form of folic acid, tetrahydrofolic, responsible for protein exchange and multiplication of the microbial cell. Thus, by the interaction of the two components listed above, the formation of folic acid, which is necessary for microorganisms for the synthesis of purine compounds, and subsequently of nucleic acid (DNA and RNA), is failing. As a result, the formation of proteins is disrupted and the death of bacteria occurs.

In the form of the preparation "Biseptol" - suspension, the instruction for use, in addition to the active substances, also speaks of auxiliary substances: macroglagol glyceryl hydroxysitrate, magnesium aluminum silicate, carmellose sodium, citric acid, methylparahydroxybenzonate, sodium hydrogen phosphate, propyl parahydroxybenzonate, sodium saccharinate, maltitol, aroma Strawberries, propylene glycol, purified water.

In the form of the preparation "Biseptol" - tablets, the instruction in auxiliary substances includes potato starch, talcum, magnesium stearate, polyvinyl alcohol, aseptins M and P, propylene glycol.

Concerning the preparation "Biseptol" the instruction has the following indications:

Treatment of diseases of infectious and inflammatory origin, which are caused by microorganisms:

- infectious diseases of the respiratory tract;

- sinusitis, otitis media;

- Brain abscess, meningitis;

- infectious lesions of the urogenital system;

- Gonorrhea;

- infectious diseases of the digestive tract;

- Infectious lesions of soft tissues and skin.

Also concerning the use of the drug "Biseptol" the instruction contains the following information:

- 240 mg twice a day for children aged 2-5 years;

- 480 mg twice a day for children aged 6-12 years;

- 960 mg twice a day for children after 12 years of age and adults.

The drug has mild side effects, which occur after discontinuation of its use.

Contraindications for the use of the drug "Biseptol" instruction is as follows:

- functional disorders in the liver;

- functional disorders in the kidneys;

- disruption of the hematopoiesis system;

- Weak cardiovascular system;

- Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency;

- Pregnancy;

- The child's age is up to 3 months;

- the presence of hypersensitivity to its components.

If the patient is diagnosed with angina caused by streptococcus, the purpose of this drug is not shown. To avoid crystallography, and as a consequence, urolithiasis, it is necessary to provide high fluid intake. With long-term use, monitoring of the peripheral blood state is necessary.

Simultaneous reception of trimethoprim enhances the action of hypoglycemia - derivatives of sulfonylurea.

The combined use of thiazide diuretics can cause increased bleeding and thrombocytopenia.

The drug increases the activity of the antisense action of phenytoin and the effect of warfarin anticoagulant.

Do not use this drug in conjunction with cyclosporine, the reason for the appointment is a kidney transplant, because the condition of the patient may deteriorate.

In case of overdose, it is necessary to cancel the drug, rinse the stomach for 2 hours, drink a lot, force diuresis, calcium folinate is prescribed.
