Bentley Bentayga will help the company break the record in 2016?

According to legend, Ettore Bugatti once sarcastically called the Bentley 4½ Litre the fastest truck in the world. He hardly knew that his words would turn out to be prophetic. After all, at the moment, Bentley is working on its own SUV. And you know what? Its maximum speed will be 300 kilometers per hour, which will make this car the fastest in its class.

Why an SUV?

Why the choice of "Bentley" fell on the class of SUVs? It's pretty simple - almost all people who own a Bentley car also have another car that they use to move in the winter, or when it's snowing, or when the fog is on the street, or when the thermometer's column has fallen. And most often this other car is an off-road car. Accordingly, now that Bentley also produces off-road vehicles, many such owners will want a second car of the same brand as the first.

Sales growth

Over the past three years, Bentley has sold more than ten thousand cars in one calendar year, and this has been a major achievement for the company. Bentley Bentayga will be another step forward and, perhaps, will help the company break the record. After all, in 2016 it is planned to produce 5500 cars of this model. This presumable indicator has changed once more, and the company's representatives report that if the interest in the model continues to grow, then this indicator can be changed more than once - all the same in the upward direction.

Physical parameters

Bentayga may look too high for a Bentley car at 174 centimeters in height, for other physical parameters the car is not too big. It has 514 centimeters in length and 200 centimeters in width - this means that the new model is 43 centimeters shorter and seven centimeters wider than the Mulsanne model. It is also worth noting that the new model weighs about 2,450 kilograms, which makes it about 250 kilograms lighter than the Mulsanne. The bottom of the body is made of steel, but the body itself is almost entirely made of aluminum. Manufacturers say that this car will be the largest model in the history of the automotive industry with a cast aluminum body.

Braking

Given such a relatively small weight for a Bentley brand car, Bentayga delivers a lot of fun while driving. It is worth paying attention to depreciation and the fact that even the most unpleasant flaws in the road will be relaxed for the driver and passengers. The electronic management assistance system is clear and efficient, however, as in most such cases, you will not get the pleasure of the process as if you were driving yourself. The brake pedal is solid and comfortable, and even if you move out of a steep mountain, there will not be the slightest sign of failure.

Control

Driving is fairly neutral, so you quickly forget that you are driving a 2500-kilogram SUV with a 12-cylinder engine under the hood. Of course, you can pay attention to some difficulties when cornering, but with a competent setup you can safely pass any turns without any problems. Particularly noteworthy is the Bentley Dynamic Ride - the newest active stabilizer of lateral stability, with the help of which the ideal control of the car's behavior on the road is achieved. It is this stabilizer that counteracts the natural motion vector with the help of several electronic drives located in different parts of the car, which leads to a softening of the movement and to maximum comfort when driving. This system is quite interesting, but do not expect that the world of sports cars immediately rush to use it. The point is that for a fast functioning of this system a constant voltage of 48 volts is necessary. Therefore, the system consists of a large number of elements and, accordingly, weighs about 18 kilograms, and also occupies an incredibly large amount of space in the car. Given the size of the new Bentley SUV, the company took a similar step to ensure the comfort of the driver and passengers, but most sports cars simply will not be able to afford as much excess weight as the vehicle size increases.

Off-road

Naturally, the SUV should be adapted for off-road, a semi-serious test was conducted away from the asphalt pavement. Semi-serious it was for the reason that it is still Bentley's first step in this direction, so few expect high performance from Bentayga in extreme conditions. Initially, of course, there are fears that this SUV will be too easy to overcome the rough terrain. But in fact, the new Bentley coped well with the task, a couple of times just kissing the ground in front and back. This is not a very pleasant impression for the reason that replacing parts in such a car will cost, most likely, more expensive than a full repair of a Jeep.
