Bavarian crochet: charts, recommendations, photo

Bavarian knitting technique is one of the ways to create a colored relief cloth. Knitting in this way always occurs in a circle, and the shape of the resulting element is a square.

Design feature

Thanks to the fact that when knitters work, they use relief bars, on the canvas are formed three-dimensional "pigtails". Also this method provides the main highlight of the ornament - colored stitches on the petals. Alternating different yarns provides a smooth transition from one color to another. The border is not as clear as usual, and this is exactly what Bavarian crochet is.

The diagrams illustrate this point differently. For example, in the figure with a square motive all the elements are designated as simple columns with a crochet, and the rectangle's image is more detailed - here there are relief columns with two crochets.

For what you can use the pattern

It can not be said that there are so many options where one could apply Bavarian crochet crochet - its schemes are designed so that the yarn color needs to be changed every two rows, which makes the canvas quite colorful. And this leads to the fact that most often it is used for the manufacture of plaids, pillows, bags and overlays on stools.

From the described elements, you can also create some garment, such as a vest, skirt or top. The large squares that make up most of the detail look good, and there are also models formed by several small motifs.

Bavarian crochet: patterns and yarn

To connect such a fragment, you need a yarn of medium thickness. A thread that is at least 400 m long for 100 grams is best suited. Depending on the purpose of the product, the craftsman chooses a woolen, mixed, cotton or other thread.

The color scale is better to think in advance, as the combination of colors plays a major role in the external appeal of the product. Very interesting things are obtained, when knitting a gradient color transition is observed: from the light middle to the dark edge or vice versa. This effect is achieved when using yarns of three or more shades of the same color (for example white, blue and blue).

Despite the seeming complexity of the work, even a knitter with minimal experience of Bavarian crochet is available. Schemes of two popular motifs you can see in the article. We bring to your attention a classic square.

The rectangle with two central elements also looks spectacular.

Bavarian knitting: master class

The petals of a square flower can be formed by columns with a different number of cusps: from one to three. In this example, knitting the petals from the three-capped columns (C3H) is described.

Link a chain of 5 air loops (5 VP). Clamp it in a ring. In the ring, tie 4 C3H with a common tip, 5 VP to fix to the ring chain. The petal turned out.

There must be four in total, so you need to repeat the described algorithm three more times.

Ten C3H with a common base is tied in a loop at the top of the petal.
Repeat the indicated sequence three times.

Thread a different color between the 3rd and 4th columns of the second row of the petal. Next, tie 5 VP and 4 C3H with a common tip in succession in the columns of the second row. At the same time, C3H is knitted in the same way as the inlaid relief columns; at 5 VP, a fastening to the base is made, then 5 VP, 7 C3H with a common tip and again 5 VP. Repeat for each petal.

In the central loop of the petal, tie 10 C3H, fix it to the base with a connecting column, 6 C3H into the central loop formed by the C3H family. And repeat to the end of the series.

At this point, you can change the thread again. To further increase the canvas, one should repeat the performance of point 3 and point 4 from our master class in turn.
