Attractions in Africa: the amazing African continent

Africa is the second largest continent and possibly the homeland of mankind. The combination of unbridled nature and civilization, skyscrapers of South Africa and hundreds of savage tribes of Swaziland. This continent can not but attract its simplicity and mystery at the same time. Crowds of tourists yearly seek to visit the sights of Africa.

Unrepeatable Africa

In Africa, about a billion people live, and its territory is divided into 55 countries. Far from all the corners of this continent are ready to open to a foreign visitor. True, in recent years, the tourist potential of African countries is increasingly evolving and opens up, hidden before the sights of Africa. Lovers of hot sun and beaches, thrill seekers - everyone can find here something for themselves.

The most common places for visiting tourists are the islands that belonged to the African continent. The amazingly rich nature of Madagascar, the jungle of Mauritius, the Canary beaches and the incredible beauty of the Seychelles open their spaces for those who want to find their own piece of paradise.

Continental Africa, too, has saved a few trumps. Morocco and Tunisia are practically in no way inferior to the islands. In addition to sandy beaches, these countries are known for their medieval Arab cities. And in Morocco there is even a city of blue color. Enumerating the sights of Africa, it is impossible to miss the Egyptian pyramids and ancient Carthage.

Connoisseurs of natural resources usually do not miss the opportunity to visit one of the national parks in Tanzania, Kenya or Rwanda. Some even go to visit the African desert of Namibia, Algeria. Here is the largest desert on Earth - Sahara, which is located within eleven African countries.

The Cradle of Mankind

Africa is often called the cradle of life or the cradle of humanity and this is by no means due to the diversity of its nature. Scientists have long agreed with this term and even contributed to its emergence, because it was on the African expanse discovered the most ancient remains of man. Many researchers believe that the further spread of our ancestors across the Earth began from the African continent.

Now the cradle of humanity is called a piece of land about 470 square meters in size 50 kilometers from Johannesburg. There are more than 30 archaeological sites, where the bones of ancient people were found. The cradle is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Most of the remains were found in caves. Together with human remains, bones of various mammals have been found.

Temples of Côte d'Ivoire

Côte d'Ivoire, or the Ivory Coast, once a French colony, has inherited several cathedrals. The Catholic Cathedral of Our Lady of Peace - Notre Dame de la Paix - is the most famous. He is in the capital of the state in the city of Yamoussoukra and is listed in the Book of Records as the largest cathedral in the world. The prototype of it was St. Peter's Cathedral in the Vatican. The dome of the cathedral rises to 158 meters, but in itself the cathedral is not very capacious and much inferior to the Vatican.

The Cathedral of Our Lady of the World is another pro-European cathedral and is completely unrelated to African culture. More unique and colorful are the mosques. In the city of Kauara there is a mosque of Sudan type, built in the XVII century. The Sudanese type of mosques is interesting with particular architectural details that adapt the temple to the local climate. A similar clay mosque was preserved in Mali. The mosque in Kong is also dated to the 17th century, it is considered the national treasure of the country.

Crown of Tanzania - Kilimanjaro

Africa is especially famous for its highest mountain. Among the plains of Tanzania, this "sparkling mountain" rises to 5,890 meters. Climbing the mountain you can feel on yourself all types of climates of our planet. In the lower part of the mountain there is a savannah with many interesting inhabitants from monkeys to lions and leopards. Down from the melting tops, covered with snow, mountain streams flow down.

There are many routes that are designed for both professionals and amateur tourists who decided to conquer Kilimanjaro. Africa in these places reveals its true nature and character. Near the mountain there are two national parks: Tarangire and Serengeti. The latter is even one of the largest reserves in the world.

Conclusion

It is impossible to briefly list all the sights of Africa. This continent has a huge number of interesting natural and architectural objects. Wild nature, originality, represented by numerous savannahs, deserts. Unique animals in the open spaces open to visitors to national parks and reserves. It seems that only here you can feel something real and unadulterated.
