Playa de Las Americas - a modern European resort

The island of Tenerife has always enjoyed immense popularity among Europeans, but if before resting a simple walk was enough, then with time tastes and demands changed. In the 70s of the last century, the authorities realized that something needs to be changed to attract customers who want to swim not in certain months, but all year round. The island itself is divided into two parts by a mountain range. In the north, the temperature is always a little lower, often rains, so there is lush vegetation. In the south for a long time there was nothing, because this territory is like a semi-desert. But it is here that the mountains do not miss the cold trade winds.

It is not surprising that the resort of Playa de Las Américas was located in the southern part of the island. The authorities had to create the whole infrastructure from scratch, because here, except for the Canary snail bushes and fishing villages, there was nothing else. Foreign and Spanish investors immediately became interested in the project to create a modern resort on a deserted patch of land, thanks to this the Playa de Las Americas grew literally in two decades.

Today the city has everything that only the soul wants: hotels with both modest and luxurious apartments, entertainment venues, shops, bars, restaurants, small cafes. The resort is only for tourists. Local people live not in the Playa de Las Americas itself, but nearby, they come here only to work. The resort was called the "Beach of America" not in honor of the United States, but to once again recall the exploit of Columbus and his team.

On the island of Tenerife, Playa de Las Americas is considered the most popular resort among foreigners, although, in addition to it, there are also Costa Adeje in the west and Los Cristianos in the east. Every year millions of tourists come here from all over Europe, there are also Russians, although our compatriots are few - about 3% of the total. Despite this, the resort offers a huge selection of tours with a Russian-speaking guide, the stores are actively recruiting Russian vendors.

Tourists, based on their temperament and personal preferences, can choose where to settle on the Playa de Las Americas. In the central part there is always a lively atmosphere, there are a lot of discos, clubs, restaurants, young people walk until late at night. In the West it is better to settle for those who prefer to rest in peace and quiet, this zone is very respectable. The eastern part is the "golden mean", in the afternoon it is crowded, tourists go shopping, visit entertainment venues, but with the night comes, everything closes, the area falls asleep.

For the holidaymakers 8 beaches are prepared, you can swim in the ocean all year round, you can enjoy all kinds of entertainment: a boat trip, hire of catamarans and yachts, fishing and so on.
