Application of algae powder. Seaweed in cosmetology and culinary

Seaweed is a common name for a group of different organisms, including benthic, unicellular and multicellular, as well as some green, blue, red and brown algae.

They have a variety of appearance and application - from the role of food additives and ending with fertilizers for agricultural structures. The two largest and well-known areas in which algae are used are cooking and cosmetology.

Seaweed in cooking

Cooking is one of the most creative areas of activity, and the seafood here takes its rightful huge place. It is justified to use a powder of seaweed - as a seasoning, alone or in combination with other spices. Dry and canned ingredients find their place in the first and second dishes, salads, desserts.

Kelp

Many kinds of sea kale are used for food . To fill the daily requirement for iodine, it's enough to eat it 30-40 grams. A lot of dishes are prepared from kelp: it can be used instead of regular cabbage in soups, with meat or fish, in side dishes, it is suitable for sweets, pastilles, edible in candied form.

In Japan, from the kombu, as they call one of the types of kelp, they prepare a traditional dish - soup dasi. It is also used as a seasoning - many algae in powder are suitable as a flavor additive both independently and in mixtures with other spices.

Spirulina

Algae, very rich in protein, it in it to 77% - about three times more than in meat. And of course, it is full-fledged, that is contains all the essential amino acids, and in addition to them - useful vitamins, micro- and macro elements.

On sale spirulina can be found in the form of powder (in this form it goes as a food supplement) and in the form of tablets. The use of algae powder as an additive allows us to enrich traditional Western dishes with useful ingredients.

Fucus

This brown seaweed is not good taste, so it is often used in a dried form as an additive. Fucus contains a large amount of vitamins and macronutrients, including Omega-3-acids, polysaccharides, it is able to reduce body fat and cholesterol.

Nori

Red seaweed porphyry hides under this name. Included in the traditional dish of South Wales - "miner breakfast" - with sausages, fried eggs and fried bacon and tomatoes. Not all kinds of porphyry are edible, but these are usually understood as nori, suitable for food, which grow not only near Japan, but also not far from Wales and China.

In nori, as in many other "sea plants", there is a lot of protein, vitamins and trace elements, besides, they perfectly match with rice, and are also suitable as a condiment for noodles. There are many recipes for preparing dishes with them - in traditional Japanese cuisine they are a component of almost a quarter of the recipes of national cuisine.

Dales and rhymes

Dals has long been used for food in Ireland and Scotland, on the shelves of shops it can be found in dried form. Birth is the same ingredient in Icelandic cuisine, where it was considered a cure for many diseases.

"Salt" from marine plants

Algal salt is one of the most convenient forms that can be found on sale. Not everyone loves algae and is able to learn how to cook them. However, almost all use salt.

The use of seaweed powder in the form of salt is a convenient culinary option. Moreover, salt from algae has a huge advantage over conventional sodium chloride. Cooked correctly, it preserves the entire set of micro- and macro-elements, vitamins, amino acids, which contained a living plant. You can use it in the same way as usual. In Russia, in stores you can find salt from fucus and laminaria.

Seasonings from seaweed

However, seafood can be used not only in the form of salt. The use of seaweed powder in the form of seasonings is also a very good way to introduce them into the diet. The lightest in this series are nori and dulce, stronger ones are kombu and kelp, the most salty is to wakame.

Cook them fairly simply: fry in the oven at a low temperature, until they darken and become crispy. After crushing in a mortar in fine powder. The resulting powder can be combined with other spices.

Seaweed as cosmetics

Among the most commonly used - kelp, spirulina, fucus. Seaweed in cosmetology is part of masks, creams, massage oils, used for wrapping, baths and peeling.

Spirulina thanks to its composition is able to raise the tone of the skin, moisturize and nourish it, have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effect.

Fucus is an effective remedy for the prevention of stretch marks, wrinkles and cellulite. Has a detoxifying effect on the body. In cosmetology is most often used in the form of an extract, oil or micronized powder.
