MAZ-251 - tourist bus

MAZ-251 was first seen in Russia in 2004. The bus was brought by representatives of the Minsk Automobile Plant to an international exhibition in Moscow, although it was not launched in 2005 until 2005. In terms of the level of modern design, the car still has no analogues among the models of buses produced in Russia and CIS countries.

MAZ-251 is a high-floor (one-and-a-half) bus intended for intercity and international flights, which can provide passengers with a high level of comfort.

Body

The body of the bus is a load-bearing structure of wagon type, it is trimmed around the perimeter with GRP panels, which are practically not subject to aggressive external environment. The roof cladding is an all-metal sheet welded to the frame.

The interior is glazed in accordance with the most modern technologies. Despite the fact that the glass is quite large, the use of a seamless adhesive method of installation does not reduce the overall strength of the structure.

For landing and disembarking passengers there are two sliding doors made of aluminum profile. Opening mechanism - pneumatic, rotary. The doors are equipped with a crane, which makes it possible to unlock them in the event of an accident. In addition, to ensure the safety of the MAZ-251 bus is equipped with a disabling movement blocking mechanism, if the car doors are open. They are also equipped with a device that eliminates the possibility of clamping a person. The driver gets to his workplace through the front passenger door.

The mirror system, produced by Mekra, provides an excellent overview almost all around the perimeter of the bus.

Salon of the bus

MAZ-251 has 44 soft, upholstered seats, which are located in pairs along the right and left sides of the bus. For the convenience of passengers, each seat is equipped with an adjustable backrest, footrest and armrests. The seats are equipped with folding tables with built-in cupholders, nets for books and magazines. In addition, above the seats is a shelf for storing hand luggage, in the lower part of which are built individual for each chair luminaire, ventilation and radio.

The second door has a bathroom with a toilet and a wash hand basin. There is also a refrigerator and a kitchenette with a table, microwave and coffee maker in the cabin.

In front of the bus and in the middle of the cabin there are two screens designed for viewing video films.

A place for a driver with a well-planned layout (both the dashboard and the control system of the bus equipment) is not separated from the common cabin, which, in principle, is traditionally for such buses.

The high position of the floor is due to the impressive luggage compartment under it, accessed through the side doors.

Under the floor at the second door designers have provided a heated place for the rest of the second removable driver. It is equipped with a sleeping place, lighting and a telephone for communication with the driver behind the wheel of the bus.

Heating and ventilation

Air heating in the cabin is due to the cooling system of the power unit. For additional heating of the driver's seat an independent fan heater is provided. Ventilation of the driver's seat is carried out through the heater openings with the heating function switched off, in this case the air intake is carried out outside the bus.

The salon is heated by a system consisting of a pipeline, convectors and fan heaters. For the natural ventilation of the cabin there are two hatchways. Forced ventilation is provided by two fans mounted in the MAZ-251 roof.

Also, the bus is equipped with an air conditioner, located on the roof in front of the car. Passing through it, processed air enters the passenger places, where the intensity of its flow can be adjusted by each passenger individually according to their preferences.

Specifications

  1. MAN D2866 LOH - 360 hp (calculated for fuel class Euro-3).
  2. Mercedes-Benz OM 457 LA - 360 hp (under the Euro-5).

Brake system - pneumatic with ABS and ASR. The parking brake is installed on the rear axles.

Gear box - mechanical type with 6 steps.

MAZ-251: reviews

Drivers who worked on the bus for about a year, note that in general the car is convenient, and not only for passengers. Adjustable driver's seat, as well as additional options make the management quite comfortable. It is noted, however, one drawback - the lack of a vent in the side window of the cabin. It is motivated by the fact that during the stop by the traffic police officers the driver has to leave the bus for the presentation of documents.

Also from minor flaws are noted: the creak of the plastic interior, increased gaps in detail and aesthetic shortcomings.

But in general, from THAT to THAT bus travels practically without censures.
