Amazing wonders of nature: New Athos cave

In Abkhazia there is a beautiful legend about how this wonderful place appeared. When the Almighty distributed the land to all nations, a guest came to the Abkhaz. He did not dare to drive him away or hurry, but he did all the honors, as expected. When, at last, the Abkhazian came for the land, it turned out that she was all given away. Then the Almighty said that he was amazed at the hospitality and kindness of man and would give him a small but unusually beautiful land that he wanted to leave for himself. So that land became Abkhazia. It is rich in forests, canyons, impregnated with many mountain rivers, washed by the sea, and its depths are full of miracles. One of them is rightly considered the Novy Afon cave. It truly can be called a magical creation of nature.

Novyafonskaya cave was opened in 1961. It was discovered by an absolutely random local native Givi Smyr. He explored the emptiness of the Iberian Mountains. The cave was washed by underground waters, which every year seeped through the mountain. The water found for itself the only way out to the surface under the arches of the cave. Standing on the ground below, it's hard to believe that this is possible, because its height is more than 100 m. The most beautiful places that hide the New Athos caves are the halls of Anakopia, Givi Smyra and a gallery of stone flowers. "Anakopia" is the very first hall that meets tourists and opens a mysterious lake "Anatolia". In "Clay Hall" will be able to listen to music, enjoy incredible natural acoustics. You can get into the cave through the main entrance, created by people, with the help of a unique metro that was commissioned in 1975 for the convenience of tourists.
