AK-9 - the machine not accepted for service

The name of Mikhail Timofeevich Kalashnikov, the man who created the most reliable and used machine, is known all over the world. His offspring was adopted by the armies of 50 countries. It is the most used of the entire arsenal of small arms. No wonder that among the most famous inventions of the 20th century, along with the atomic bomb, there is the Kalashnikov assault rifle. This type of small arms is very popular in almost all countries of the world, and in Egypt, it even erected a monument. By its simplicity of construction and high degree of reliability, AK is not equal among existing ones. The quality of its work is not affected by all kinds of weather conditions, or different temperature characteristics. The ability to fire is not affected by various types of clogging the body - from water to sand and dirt.

History of the AK-9

Speaking about AK-9, one can not help but dwell on historical moments. Let's start with the creation of the AK-47. When in 1943 a cartridge with a caliber of 7.62 mm appeared, the question arose about the development of a new type of small arms compatible with this cartridge. Along with the well-known designers of that period, Mikhail Timofeevich Kalashnikov worked on creating a new kind of automatic weapons . In 1947, the AK-47 assault rifle was adopted by the Soviet Army. With a decrease in the caliber of the cartridge to 5.45 mm, Kalashnikov creates an AK-74 automatic. In the eighties, a modification of the AKS-74U appeared - a shortened automatic. In the same period, AKM-74 is produced, intended for use with an optical sight. The next developments of "Yuzhmash" were Kalashnikov assault rifles, included in the so-called hundredth series, designed for the most used calibers.

Review of AK-9

Based on the models of the hundredth series and the automatic device AK-9 was designed. Developments of weapons were conducted since 2006, and in 2009 at the exhibition "GROWTH-2009" this rifle complex was presented. The machine is designed in such a way that special 9mm cartridges can be used for it, having a subsonic bullet speed (SP-5, SP-6). For a noiseless and flameless conduct of fire on the trunk of the machine, you can install a special detachable device. The AK-9 was based on the design of the AK74-M. The difference between them is only in reducing the parameters (length) of the nodes of the gas engine and the barrel itself. The application made of polymer material was left unchanged. In the AK-9 store there are 20 rounds, as in OC-14. The maximum distance at which it is possible to conduct firing is 400 meters. This weapon is a worthy replacement for such automatons as 9A-91, AS VAL.

Specifications

When reviewing the AK-9, it is necessary to dwell on its main technical characteristics. As already mentioned, the shooting uses 9 × 39 cartridges of different variants. The length of the trunk is only 200 mm. From this type of machine it is possible to shoot at a speed of 750-800 rounds per minute. Comparing AK-9 and AK 74M, it must be said that the first is equipped with a new pistol grip, which has much better ergonomic parameters. A special feature of the forehead is that there are guides at the bottom that allow laser pointers of the target and a different class of use of lanterns to be attached to the weapon . Optical or collimator sights, as well as on AK 74M, can be attached to the left side of the trunk box. Among the positive features of this submachine gun it is necessary to allocate a high penetrating ability, high damage and effective range of fire. The disadvantages include low rate of fire and low accuracy in the position "from the hip", as well as inconvenient feedback.

New developments of the Izhevsk Mechanical Plant

For today, the developers of Izhmash do not stop at the achieved successes. Starting in 2011, a new base AK-12 was introduced, which is accompanied by 20 additional modifications. The new model is equipped with a more modern sight and the ability to work with different types of cartridges.
