Adapter For Well - Modern Way of Well Construction

By organizing water supply in your suburban area, many issues have to be solved. For example, which well should be drilled, how to provide a sealed insert into the well, what well pump to choose and much more. In stores, eyes run from the abundance of downhole equipment. If to speak about a tight tapping in a well, now there are four main alternatives: a well, a pavilion, a caisson for a well and an adapter for a well. They differ from each other in cost, scope of work and reliability. To begin with, we will discard the first two methods for objective reasons (wells are very unreliable, and the cost of pavilions is so high that they are used only in the organization of collective water supply). Therefore, in this article, we will focus on the two most popular ways of arranging wells for water: caissons and borehole adapters.

The caisson is a large barrel made of plastic or metal, which has a hole at the bottom (to enter the well casing ), and a hole with a hatch at the top.

For a long time, metal caissons for wells were monopolists in the field of development of suburban water supply. These products had a number of drawbacks: high price, complexity of installation, impressive size and weight, dubious aesthetic value, weak protection from illegal opening. But the most important drawback is practically complete helplessness before corrosion. Then came the plastic caissons, which had a serious advantage over the caissons made of metal: the plastic is not corroded. But, unfortunately, there were not any minuses: the new caissons had too little resistance before the pressure of the soil. This drawback predetermined the impossibility of installing plastic caissons where the groundwater table is high enough.

Unfortunately or not, everything indicates that the time of bulky costly caissons has come to an end - the proportion of competing offers from their more economical and compact counterparts is growing every day. About whether it's good or bad, you can very long argue, but the reality is that more and more buyers are interested in the answer to the question "what better to buy the adapter for the well".

Adapters for the well (English Pitless adapter) appeared relatively recently, in the 60s of the last century, but only in the mid-80s they gained popularity among consumers. Pitless adapters are hermetic joints of water pipes made of bronze or brass.

If you want to buy a well adapter, you should remember the difference between bronze and brass fittings. Brass and bronze are varieties of copper alloys, for which different components of alloying are used. Brass is alloyed with zinc, while bronze is alloyed with different metals except for zinc and nickel. Bronze surpasses brass in resistance to corrosion, mechanical and antifrictional properties. Bronze is stable in air, in sea water, in carbonic solutions and in solutions of most organic acids. As a consequence, the bronze adapter will not suffer from stress corrosion cracking. Zinc will not be leached. There will not be in the water supply system such heavy metals as nickel and lead. In addition, we should not forget that one bronze separator between two different materials will help prevent such a phenomenon as electrochemical corrosion. The only drawback of bronze products in front of brass is their cost. This is due to the higher copper content in bronze.

To summarize, it can be said that to meet hygiene requirements, reliability and durability standards without the use of bronze well adapters, it is difficult to do.
