If you want to harvest in September, you will have to plant the beds in May. But in June it is better to refrain from planting this vegetable. But there is another opinion about when to plant carrots. Some farmers say that the first crop should be carried out in the early spring, as soon as the soil warms up to +8 degrees. However, in this case it is necessary to use a greenhouse or to cover a plant with a film. Later film is removed. When exactly this is done, it will depend on your weather conditions.

Carrots love loose soil. Too dry and dense soil leads to the fact that root crops grow stiff and curved. And in areas with high water levels, the vegetable can be rotten. The best predecessors for carrots are potatoes, cucumbers, cabbage. We should not forget about fertilizers. It is better not to use organic, as this vegetable does not like acidic environment. There are several ways how to plant carrot seeds. Some summer residents plant carrots with tape from paper. They can be bought or made by yourself. On the paper strip paste the seeds with a paste at a distance of 5 cm from each other. Then the tape is laid in specially made shallow grooves and sprinkled with earth.

When sowing, you can do without paper, just mix carrots with radish and sand. Radish ripens earlier, so after its harvest, carrots can not be thinned. This method will save your time.

There is a third way, but it is longer. Make holes in the form of a cone, fill up the fertilizer and throw several seeds. After the vegetable has risen, weed out, leaving the strongest shoots.
