Abandoned pioneer camps in Moscow and the Moscow Region

Abandoned places have always attracted the attention of lovers of new sensations. Abandoned buildings store a lot of memories of old times, and those who like to wander among forgotten walls and things attract mystery and alienation from the big world. Especially interesting are old buildings of different purposes. Time in them seemed to stop. Abandoned hospitals, houses, schools, camps where life was once boiling, were abandoned in the form in which they were used in recent days, almost everything remained untouched. Sometimes such places are notorious, which makes them a special target for adventurers and adrenaline riders. Today, the abandoned buildings are guided tours, of course, not all, but in the most popular. This has become a kind of direction in tourism.

Abandoned pioneer camps

In Soviet times there were quite a lot of pioneer camps. Each schoolboy eagerly awaited the time to go on vacation, finally get out of the stuffy city in the nature. They supported not only the strong health of children, but also the patriotic spirit. Pioneer camps were the national treasure of the USSR until the moment when a huge country began to fall apart and go into oblivion, and along with it, health institutions also left. A major role in this was played by the abolition in 1990 of pioneering activities founded by Lenin. Today the pride of the past is only a place of pilgrimage for stalkers - people who visit abandoned or forbidden zones, they are also called guides. Some of them organize paintball courts, which is very convenient, because the place is no longer visited by people.

How to find an abandoned camp

The location of many camps has long been lost, people literally fled from such places after the collapse of the Soviet Union. Vaguely remembered about their finding are those who once in their childhood there rested, but not all of them are eager to return to the abandoned pioneer camps. They are looked for by stalkers with stalkers, armed with the necessary equipment, they explore the terrain in search of the abandoned territories and record their location. On special Internet maps, abandoned camps are marked with a white spot, but basically information about them can be found on special websites where people publish photo reports about their sorties and indicate how to get to the place.

The most famous places of pilgrimage

Abandoned pioneer camps near Moscow are very popular, they do not need to travel long and spend time searching. The most popular are "Camomile", "Seagull", "Blue Dachi", "Rocket", "East". About them you can find many stories and photos taken at different times of the year, many people even gather in groups to visit the vacant places. Another reason for visiting the abandoned camp is information that during Soviet times secret military bases were masked according to documents for children's camps, and to build suspicions, they built real ones. Therefore, pilgrims at the same time explore the nearby area in the hope of finding something more interesting. The abandoned pioneer camps of the Moscow region have become a target for far more fanatical seekers of deserted territories. Such places include "Jubilee", "Fairy Tale", "Podmoskovny", "Salute", etc.

Camp "Salute"

In Soviet times almost all camps were built with the support of factories and large enterprises. This appearance is due to the Karacharovsk Mechanical Plant, which was owned until 2002. At the same time, the camp was closed due to the collapse of the roof of the assembly hall, for this reason people left it in a hurry, leaving things in their places. The place where the pioneer camp "Salyut" is located is near Moscow. Abandoned, it still benefits in our days. Now part of the territory is used for playing paintball, and the other is under protection, but getting there still is not difficult. The camp occupies a rather large area, shortly before the closure, a swimming complex with three swimming pools was built. Inside and outside, the design remains: mosaic and drawings on the walls, a monument. All the decorations of the building are filled with the spirit of patriotism, and in the main building there is still a bust of Lenin.

Abandoned camp "The Seagull"

The abandoned pioneer camp "Chaika" is located on the bank of the Klyazma, where, in addition to it, there are several more camps, operating and abandoned. Almost untouched, it has survived quite well, it has not yet been sacked and spoiled. The camp is located in the Vladimir region, in a forest area near the villages, in a quiet and peaceful place. Like most of these institutions, it was built from the former Rossiya hotel, and closed in 1998-1999 due to outbreaks of violence and pogroms, according to local residents. Completely withdrawn from service in 2008. On the territory there are two buildings, a club, a dining room, a stadium, two hostels. Now the territory is bought out for building.

Abandoned camp pioneer "Rocket"

The Moscow region is rich in such "sights" as the old forgotten camps hidden in the wilderness, and the "Rocket" is no exception. By chance, and maybe not, it is located among the military training grounds, therefore, getting to the place, you can hear shots and notice the tablets with the inscriptions "Caution, passage is prohibited". At the entrance to the camp, a ruined monument to Yuri Gagarin and a stone statue remotely resembling a pioneer are seen. On the territory there were preserved children's playgrounds and even some attractions that used to work from electricity. The floor inside the building is strewn with tattered books, gas masks, glass shards and various rubbish. The camp is located near the banks of the Volga, in a place that once was ideally suited for children's health recreation.

"Tale" for deaf-mute children

One of the most popular places among all the rest is the abandoned pioneer camp "Fairy Tale". Its address is Dmitrovsky district of the Moscow region, Gorki village. He is on the list of the most eerie abandoned places in Moscow and the Moscow region, and this is not surprising. Once this place was picturesque and truly "fabulous", its walls inside and out decorated with huge colorful sculptures of marine monasteries. This idea was ideal for deaf-mute children, whom the camp was taking. Unable to hear and speak, they could only enjoy the beautiful things their eyes saw. Today time and weather erased colors from sculptures and walls, the appearance of the camp more like a nightmare than a resting place. Outside, the building is covered by a huge octopus, in the flights of stairs there are shells and jellyfish, the walls of the rooms are decorated with corals. The camp was closed about 30 years ago, it had a residential complex, a dining room, a library and even a bunker.

Other Abandoned Camps

No less famous is the "Camomile", which was closed due to lack of financing and once belonged to the Ministry of General Mechanical Engineering of the Soviet Union. In the residential building everything remained in place, in the dining room rusted dishes and cooking vats lie still, the chairs in the cinema hall are in straight rows, and in the operator's room long coils of films rest. There are abandoned pioneer camps that closed not so long ago. "Blue Cottages" left in 2000, its main advantage today is the library, where books and magazines of those times are still stored. On the territory there is a huge swimming pool, inside the buildings everything is kept in excellent condition, there is almost no debris and destruction. The pioneer camp "Podmoskovny", which existed since the mid-1990s, has not worked for 26 years, almost everything that had value was stolen long ago. All that remains of the former resting place is a cinema hall, residential buildings, a swimming pool and an artificial reservoir.

Abandoned pioneer camps are of great interest for fans to wander through forgotten places, plunge into distant childhood, remember the happy times spent together with friends. A pleasant feeling of nostalgia and mild sadness is present in such places. At such moments, being among memories, one can think not only about the past, but also about the present, to comprehend one's life and return home rested, like many years ago.
