Fortunately, thanks to the German designers, the twin sisters Annette and Daniele Felder (fashion brand Felder Felder), the most frequent participants of the London fashion weeks, this problem has a solution. Within the collection "Spring - Summer 2017" they presented a small black dress almost entirely made of carbon fiber. The creation of a newfangled outfit of a deep dark color with fringed sleeves and chestnuts on the chest of designers was inspired by BMW, which produces electromobiles from a similar lightweight but durable material.

Annette and Daniela said that the creation of the "carbon dress" took about 100 hours of painstaking work. They never uncovered all the secrets of dressing, but we think they have not broken a pair of scissors in the process of cutting panels.

Twin designers have already addressed the subject of BMW before. In 2015, at the Fashion Week in London, they presented youth translucent dresses with pink flamingos and a pair of BMW i3 cars covered with vinyl with a similar print. That incident allowed the sisters - and it must be acknowledged - their rock and roll fashion is known for their love for the use of strong materials and recyclables - to get a large amount of expensive shiny cloth from the carbon fiber factory in Washington. This manufacturing company belongs to the BMW auto parts concern and the German producer of SGL carbon materials and supplies materials for the i3 models, as well as the i8 - a hybrid sports car, which costs about 105 thousand dollars.

Expensive and angry

For the unskilled, it should be explained that the recyclable materials into which unsuitable for use or discarded materials are transformed, in this case carbon fiber, is presented as something very expensive and valuable after processing. Although, by the way, the "carbon dress" was made from the factory-not used CFRP, probably, therefore, it has much more value than a small black sports car, which is quite controversial.

The dress is, no doubt, gorgeous, but it would be foolish and naive to believe that the fashion world will soon begin to completely switch to the use of carbon materials. Firstly, although the carbon fiber is rather soft, it is almost not elastic and is rarely used, for example, in the manufacture of sailcloth for yachts. And also, despite the fact that this material is quite strong, it is still too thin and can crumble and scratch the skin of a girl who decides to appear in such an extravagant outfit. That's why it is usually added to plastic, and not to cloth for clothing.

Sisters Felder did not announce the cost of a small black dress, however, taking into account the combination of expensive rare material, designer dress model and manual laborious work, we think the price will be about the same as that of supercars. Fortunately, for certain, somewhere already began to make copies of fiber. Here it is - the fashion of the 21st century.
