A psychogram is what?

One of the main tasks set by the organization of each professional activity is the correspondence of the person claiming the position (subject of labor) to the conditions dictated by the profession (objective requirements). This question is called upon to solve human-knowledge fields of knowledge: psychophysiology, general psychology, psychodiagnostics, personality psychology and others. They cope with the task by developing and using such concepts as "professiogram" and "psychogram".

How to find the perfect employee

To find the optimal ratio of the subject of activity and the activity itself, two methods are used, the principles of which are radically different: professional selection and selection. Both are based on peculiarities peculiar to the potential object of labor, as well as on the specifics of the labor process itself.

Selection is that a profession, profession or specialty is selected for a specific person, taking into account his individual psychological characteristics. This is done in order to fully realize the potential of this employee in the specified position, the successful performance of all tasks and responsibilities, adequate behavior and response in any situations (typical or non-standard), as well as for obtaining professional satisfaction.

Document Value

As has already been said, the professiogram and psychogram become necessary for organizational behavior and personnel management. The psychogram is a component part of the professionogram, which, in turn, is a description that characterizes the structure and specificity of any kind of activity, its socio-economic, production-technical and psycho-physiological conditions. In addition, it includes a list of requirements that the profession puts forward to the employee.

The profession is designed to achieve the most effective implementation of professional requirements, create conditions that promote the development of the skills of the employee, as well as to obtain the product required by society.

In addition, a psychogram is a document that becomes the basis for identifying possible ways, following which a person can acquire the necessary psychological qualities. As a result of the analysis of her data, a decision is made about vocational training, retraining, and upgrading of qualifications, if they are necessary within the framework of this profession.

What data are indicated in the professiogram

This document (schedule, video or other form of information organization) reflects a list of the qualities and traits of a person that will be needed for him in the course of his work, that is, he is called upon to characterize a specialist.

The document has the following structure:

  1. The name of the profession and its specialties, which may vary depending on the specifics of the work or the object of the impact.
  2. Skills, knowledge and skills that are necessary for the training and retraining of workers. This includes a list of requirements and conditions that are put forward to the level of preparation, a description of how the preparation for this specialty was conducted, a list of characteristics and properties reflecting the degree of professional, moral and cognitive orientation of each individual.
  3. List of existing psychophysiological contraindications and requirements for the profession. Thanks to this component, a properly composed professiogram can reflect those qualities of a person that can hypothetically impede the performance of duties. It also illustrates the factors that provoke a professional deformation of the employee, for example, the presence of conflicts with employees, the pressure of constant tension and monotony of activity.

Simplified document structure

The wording, the number of paragraphs of the document, as well as their visualization are developed individually (including a psychogram). An example might look like this:

  1. A list of typical production performance indicators (areas of activity, types of labor, types of labor tools, the most important production functions, types of specific complexities inherent in the profession, forms of labor organization, and the nature of social ties).
  2. Description of sanitary and hygienic conditions (microclimatic conditions, working conditions, the order of distribution of days off and holidays, injuries, occupational diseases, activities aimed at improving labor safety).
  3. List of existing medical contraindications.
  4. Characteristics of the qualification profile (the degree of professional training, indicators of the level of general intelligence, a list of moral incentives that have a motivating effect on the employee).

What is the psychogram of the profession and what is it for?

First of all, this document is an integral component of the professionogram. With its help, you can make a description of the main, most important requirements put forward by the profession to the employee in the psychological aspect. In fact, a psychogram is a psychological portrait of a person.

The scope of this document may vary, it depends on the meaningful objectives of the selection, the transfer of employees or their training.

Compilation of a psychogram occurs when studying reliable data provided by the following sources:

  • Documents that can be statements, descriptions, instructions, time tables.
  • Written and oral interviews with employees. They can be issued in the form of personal observations, questionnaires, natural and laboratory experiments.

  • Data obtained as a result of research (targeted or trial).
  • Results of ergonomic research conducted at the employee's workplace. To obtain information, electro-oculography, electroencephalography, kinocyclicography, telemetry of physiological parameters, telechronoreflexometry are used.

Professional psychogram and psychological characteristics of the specialty

There is a list of requirements that characterizes the psychological aspect of any specialty or specific workplace. The requirements are put forward to such factors:

  • Organization, equipment and working conditions.
  • Organization and regulation, which are subjected to psychological and pedagogical aspects of work.
  • Personality of the head of the team, teacher, organizer, specialist.

  • Psychophysiological, intellectual, neuropsychic and personal characteristics of the employee.
  • Efficiency, emotional-strong-willed attitudes, changed human states.
  • Processes of adaptation to innovations, the general labor rhythm, different spheres of perception, speed and quality of study.

How data is used

A psychogram is a part of the totality of information about an employee that is subject to study and analysis. All these actions are necessary, because with their help it is possible to determine a person's predisposition to perform certain duties. However, predisposition is not the only factor required for the successful completion of the assignment, as it only points to the potential for rapid learning and understanding of the fundamentals of the specialty. Steady motivation to master this or that type of activity is no less important than certain qualities and qualities of the individual.
