Гунар Цилинский - the Latvian actor, the film director, the script writer. Biography, creativity

Gunar Alfredovich Tsilinsky - People's Artist of the USSR, Latvian theater and film actor, director, screenwriter. His path to success was long, and the popularity and recognition of the public did not come immediately. Years of hard work on themselves were required by Tsilinsky in order to open the heart to the viewer. Details of his creative biography and personal life in our article.

Childhood

Gunar Tsilinsky was born on May 23, 1931 near Riga, in a small town - Ogre. The thirties in the history of Latvia were not easy - the economic and political crisis, the proclamation of Soviet power, the entry of the Republic of Latvia into the USSR in 1940.

Children's years of the artist just happened to this difficult time for the country. The difficult situation has formed the correct values in the character of Gunar - he knew from the early years the true value of bread, work, a given word. Realizing how difficult it is for parents to try to help them in the household. Tsilinsky, from his childhood, was a well-trained and intelligent boy, although his childish pranks and boyish mischief did not bypass him. All his free time Gunar spent in communion with nature - he loved to go to the river, to walk in the woods.

At the very beginning of the Great Patriotic War Latvia was occupied by the fascists. Four years of German oppression left a clear trace in the memory of the boy, and in the future reflected on his work - Gunar Tsilinsky very sincerely, with anguish played in films about the war.

Choice of profession

The first profession of Tsilinsky had nothing to do with art, sublime and ephemeral. The craft that Gunar Alfredovich learned early in his life was associated with timber processing.

In 1948, Tsilinsky graduated from the school, after three years he entered the technical school of the forest industry in his hometown. The choice of the specialty was conscious and conditioned primarily by the fact that Latvia has been famous for its pine forests since ancient times. In this regard, most of the residents of Ogre worked in the forestry and pulp and paper industries. Tsilinsky was no exception in this matter.

Love of nature manifested itself in the boy as a child. And this feeling turned out to be fundamental and determinant, real and very sincere. The character of the actor in principle was characterized by integrity and thoroughness. Even Gunar Tsilinsky himself justified the choice of his first profession with these words: "I am a convinced realist and I believe that everything stands on the ground."

After graduating from the school, Gunar immediately began to work. He began his career with a job in the Baldonsky forestry enterprise. In his immediate duties was the organization of logging.

Road to art

Unlike many actors, Tsinal Guрnar Alfredovich did not dream from childhood about the creative profession. He was not attracted by the scene, he did not crave to become a star of the screen, although the external data of the man was chic. Gunar was quite suitable for the role of a handsome, heartthrob.

Acquaintance of the future actor with theatrical art was held in the technical school. Gunar Alfredovich began to participate in amateur productions. At some point, Tsilinsky was interested in this world, so mysterious and fabulous. In his spare time, the young man traveled to the capital of Latvia Riga to the performances of the Academic Drama Theater, often visited the J. Rainis Art Theater . However, at first the theater remained just a hobby that did not encourage a young man to do something or something extraordinary. Passion for theatrical art remained only a hobby, an occupation of interests, and he was given only a second plan.

Tsilinsky took time to drastically change his life. And to this decision the actor did not come at once - the choice was made gradually, slowly. In many respects this was due to the Baltic character of the actor - measured and not prone to hasty decisions.

New life

The fascination with artistic amateurism once prompted Tsilinsky to think of trying his luck in the acting profession.

In the autumn of 1951 Gunnar Alfredovich became a student of the theatrical faculty of the Latvian Conservatory in Riga. I must say, the study was given to a young man with great difficulty - due to the nature of the future actor it was difficult to overcome himself and cope with natural modesty and shyness. This reflected on the student's performance in many acting subjects - teachers were unhappy with the Cilinsky, at some point even raised the issue of his expulsion from the institute. However, Gunar's character was not only modest, but also persistent. He managed to pull himself together and, having overcome all his fears and uncertainties, having corrected the general situation, successfully graduated from the conservatory.

After graduation, Cilinsky was accepted into the troupe of the Academic Drama Theater of Latvia. The theater became an actor home for many years.

At first Gunark's film career did not develop at all. For the first few years he did not have the opportunity to prove himself on television. When Tsilinsky was a student at the Conservatory, he came to the pictures in the picture of Leonid Lukov, but he was not approved.

Debut in the cinema

Actor Gunar Cilinsky debuted in the movies only in the late 50-ies of the last century. The audience first saw a young and handsome man in the role of fisherman Janis in the tape Ada Neretniece "Alien in the village" and Bush in the picture of Vasily Levin "Stronger Hurricane". However, the viewer did not like the beginning artist, and the first works of Gunar Alfredovich in the cinema did not attract the attention of the public.

I must say that the actor did not always receive decent job offers. In his screenwriting career, there are many films that can be called transit. Directors constantly offered him images of romantic heroes, as the appearance of the actor contributed to this. Expressive face, slender stance, elegant manners - he was handsome. The actor did not shun any work and played everything that was offered to him, although at heart he wanted to play character characters. Meanwhile, the characters of the actor Tsilinsky did not resemble living people, but rather, they resembled just a beautiful picture, an inanimate dummy.

Recognition of TV viewers

Not only with the personality of the actor was the crisis in the profession that Gunar Cilinsky experienced. Films of those years also had a specific specificity. Everything was interconnected. However, time passed, templates changed, stereotypes changed. Requirements for actors who have auditioned for a role have also been modified. Gradually, the career of Tsilinsky began to develop in a new twist.

The first recognition came to the artist when he played the underground revolutionary Drezinya in the movie "Tobago" changes course "in 1965. The film talked about the struggle of the Communists with the bourgeois system in Latvia, but the plot was presented in the adventure form to the viewer.

The image of the protagonist, created by Tsilinsky, was perfectly combined with the spirit of the painting itself. Smart and at the same time very daring Drezin in the performance of Gunar was in the thick of events and at the same time was the instigator of all that was happening. And the image created by the actor was no longer an insensible mannequin, but a very real individuality. At the same time, the external data of the actor also seemed to have changed. Beauty shone with new shades, the features became softer and more attractive.

About finding yourself

The stories of people who have achieved heights in the profession, each time confirm the golden rule of success - nothing in life is given simply so before you get something, you need to work hard. Before success comes, it is necessary to pass many tests, tempering the character, accumulating will and helping people to find the true path.

So it was with Gunar Tsilinsky. For many years he was an unrecognized genius - he worked on the stage, tried to develop in his profession, but did not see the payoff from the viewer and did not feel satisfaction from his own work. He constantly struggled with himself - he sought, tried, grew up. This confrontation required a lot of effort, on the one hand, and helped the actor to look into himself and to know his inner world, on the other. As a result of torment and search came both success and recognition.

Tsilinsky took place as an actor. After years, giving interviews, he admitted that he did not regret the time when nobody believed in him: "If there were not those thorny paths, I would not have realized my mistakes until the end and would not understand why I can not get Something that is available to others. " Gunar Alfredovich not only remembered his experience, but also did not intend to forget about him - this is his most important wealth.

"Nocturne"

A year later, the actor Gunar Cilinsky, whose filmography began to be replenished with new and new paintings, created the image of a lyrical hero in a film called "Nocturne." The picture tells of the romantic relationship between two lovers of citizens of different countries - the Latvian Georges and the Frenchwoman Yvetta. Against the backdrop of the relationship of lovers, their fight against fascism is clearly marked first in Spain, later in France (young people served in the ranks of the international army).

The actor, who before played the role of heroes, revealed himself as an actor in a dramatic genre. Although the film combined the two sides of the same Tsilinsky - heroic and lyrical. Two spectators appeared before the audience. One of them was courageous, the other taught courage.

However, even the successful roles in these two paintings can only be called the forerunners of the real success of actor Tsilinsky in the cinema.

The image of Nikolai Kuznetsov in the film "Strong in spirit" is the truly masterful work of the artist Gunar Alfredovich Tsilinsky, who brought real satisfaction from work to both the viewer and the actor himself.

"Strong-willed"

The picture "Strong in spirit" is a military-themed movie, which narrates about the heroism of a real person - scout Nikolai Kuznetsov. An interesting story is connected with the role - when Tsilinsky received an offer to appear in the film, he at first decided that it was not his image, and he wanted to abandon the role. But fate did not allow the actor to miss his high point, did not let him release his own luck from his hands.

Tsilinsky carefully prepared for filming in the cinema. He studied archival information, communicated with the acquaintances of the legendary scout. The actor very seriously approached this issue and was rewarded for his works - Kuznetsov in his performance turned out to be very lively and real. And the actor himself experienced the whole range of feelings that an artist can only experience, reincarnating on the screen in another person.

Not the least role here was played by the fact that behind Tsilinsky's shoulders at the time was a tremendous acting experience on the stage and working in several television films. Everything coincided, everything turned out, the stars came together.

Director's work

In addition to acting, Tsilinsky is known as a film director, screenwriter. His first work in this role appeared in 1976. The painting with the title "Sonata over the lake" is based on the novel by Regina Ezera "The Well". In total there are nine films in the film of director Tsilinsky, among them "Fear", "Taran", "Rust", "When the brakes are handed over", "This strange moonlight". For seventeen years, since 1975, the director of the Riga film studio was Gunar Tsilinsky.

The personal life of the actor also developed. With his future wife, actress Velta Lin, he met at the theater. Despite the fact that the woman was older than Tsilinsky for eight years, he really liked him. Soon the young people got married. In the marriage they had a son Aigar, who later went along the path of his parents and connected his life with art. He later became an actor and director.

Gunar Tsilinsky died of a heart attack at the age of 62 in July 1992. The actor in the Forest Cemetery in Riga was buried.
