Thanks to wireless communication without the use of wires, but, of course, with the help of special equipment (protocol IEEE802.11x), you can get what is called a virtual WiFi access point.

The range of such access points is about 200-250 meters, unless additional obstacles are created. Typically, for an access point to transmit enough speed to each user, no more than 10 computers are connected to it. For home use, the access point is used in place of the connecting element, as well as the wireless router.

How to configure a WiFi access point , many users know. This procedure is not particularly complicated, but takes time. But with its connection, a lot of problems and inconveniences, as with wired Internet sources, will disappear completely.

You can connect a computer to a wireless network using a direct point-to-point connection. For this operation, no additional hardware is required, just turn on the computer, which acts as a gateway between the Internet and your home network.

When choosing a router it is worthwhile to specify where the Internet will come from. The choice is between using a telephone socket or a variant of a dedicated line. When choosing the first option, you need to purchase an ADSL-type router, or an ADSL WiFi access point, most often this type of connection is provided by the same providers that provide Internet access through the telephone line. The choice of the second option involves carrying out a separate wire, or, as it is called, a dedicated line. In this case, an entirely normal router will be enough. This router has a built-in firewall that overrides all unauthorized intrusions.  

The big difference in price when buying a router will depend on what kind of speed WiFi is needed. With the usual use of the World Wide Web to crawl on sites and search for information, 54 Mbit / s will be enough, and in case of uploading movies, jumping games or programs, it is worth buying a super-high-speed device.

If you can not connect to the network, you need to check if the WiFi access point is configured correctly. If the power supply is connected, make sure that the point is energized. Next, in the control panel, check the address of the point in the address bar of the IP browser. These addresses must be in the same range, namely, the difference can only be in the last digit. Sometimes, you can enter the control panel only by entering the requested password and login. The default is admin. Initially, the WiFi access point is configured with an individual name, specifying the type of IP connection from the provider, specifying a password. Now save all settings and disconnect the access point from the computer. The provider had to throw the wire, which now should be connected to the point. Done!

Thus, the WiFi point replaced the cable and freed the host from attachment to the same fixed place of work at the computer. WiFi connection allows, if there is an open space for 100 meters away from the direct source of the signal, which is very convenient. Of course, in a closed room, the coverage area is also reduced. Nevertheless, it is convenient and productive.
