Why do we need measles vaccination for adults and children?

As a rule, measles is considered a child's disease. People of the older generation still remember how schoolchildren were sick with whole classes, since the main way to transmit this disease is airborne. Currently, it has been possible to greatly reduce the incidence of viral infection among children, thanks to vaccination, but adults began to get sick, either because they themselves refused or their parents did this preventive measure. Therefore, it is so important to know how much the measles vaccine is necessary for adults and what this disease threatens.

It must be said that measles in adults is much more severe than in children, including more likely to get serious complications such as pneumonia, encephalitis, blindness, hearing loss. The carrier of the disease is only a person, and you can get an infection even if you accidentally contact. In this case, those who did not pass the vaccination and did not tolerate the previously given infectious disease, become infected in 95% of cases. The only option is a vaccination against measles for adults and children.

There is a group of people at risk who are vaccinated without fail. These are medical students, doctors, employees of educational institutions. A woman who is preparing to become a mother, and previously ungrafted, is also recommended to be vaccinated, since this disease, suffered during pregnancy, can adversely affect the development of the fetus.

During the first day, redness, tightness at the injection site, soreness is allowed. A week after vaccination , a slight increase in temperature is possible. Use either a monovaccine (only for this disease), or a trivaccine (from measles, mumps and rubella). In both cases, the effectiveness is the same, however, the latter can be more difficult to bear, since the body needs to develop immunity not against one but against several diseases simultaneously. It should be noted that there are factors in which it is not recommended to vaccinate. These are weakened immunity, tuberculosis, leukemia, HIV infection, pregnancy. Only absolutely healthy people are vaccinated, even if there is an easy cold, the procedure should be rescheduled, but not completely abandoned.

In order to avoid an insidious infection, it is necessary that the vaccine against measles for adults and children be made in a timely manner. Thus, there is no need to worry about the dangerous consequences of a heavy virus.
