Who invented the radio: historical puzzles

The dispute over who invented the radio has been going on for decades. In the West, they believe that the authorship belongs to the Italian scientist Marconi. Russia puts forward its candidate - Alexander Popov. So who is the author of the invention?
The history of each great discovery counts, at least, a couple - three applicants for authorship. On the radio you can say the same thing.
The world's first receiver, AS Popov, presented on May 7, 1885 in the city of Petersburg.
Marconi carried out the first radio communication session in 1896, but his device was more perfect. The signal range was about one and a half kilometers, while Popov's instrument covered only 250 meters.
Both inventors, speaking in a sporting language, walked almost "nostril into the nostril."
While Alexander Stepanovich improved his invention and experienced it in the field, a more agile Italian managed to launch a factory for the production of wireless telegraph devices in England, and in 1909 already received the Nobel Prize for his "own" development.
It would seem that the question of who invented the radio can be considered closed, but it turns out not all so unambiguously. The theme "Who invented the first radio" has its continuation. It's no secret that a few years before the invention of Marconi, the theoretical model of the radio was calculated by Nikola Tesla. By the way, the Serbian physicist claimed his authorship in court. Two years before the end of World War II, the Supreme Court of America recognized the Serbian immigrant as the first inventor of the radio.
Then who invented the radio in reality? After all, Nikola Tesla, who developed the theoretical model, joined the aspirants. But, it turns out, that's not all. In the same year in 1896 in Calcutta, scientist J. Bose introduced a similar device that transmits a sound signal at a distance. Three years later the Indian made a report at a meeting of the scientific Royal Society.
If you believe the historical facts, Marconi met in London with Mr. Bose. Some suspect the vulgar Italian that he simply kidnapped the Indian from his notebook with drawings and borrowed the idea of a mercury coherer.
It is curious that the Italian really could not explain to those interested in how he managed to solve the problem of passing radio waves through all sorts of obstacles. Moreover, the device presented to them was almost an exact copy of what Bose had created.
Thus, it can be argued that the question of who invented the radio and for today remains open. Mr. Marconi, by the way, is the son of wealthy parents, which means that the commercial vein in him was sufficiently developed. Therefore, he hurried to obtain a patent for the invention, while the scientists A.S. Popov and J. Bose were not particularly interested in money or fame.
By the way, Alexander Popov never claimed to be the pioneer of the radio. This honor he gave to Nichola Tesla, believing that it was his theoretical development that formed the basis of the invention.
The device of Oliver Lodge, whose name often appears on the list of radio inventors, was created by Popov's scheme, which by that time already appeared in scientific publications.
Some sources contain information that the first wireless connection was invented by an ordinary farmer from Kentucky. By the way, he did it 4 years earlier than Popov and Marconi. But Mr. Stubblefield hardly could claim the title of inventor of radio, his device worked on the principle of induction.
Many historians, and even just sensible people, the authorship of Marconi in the matter of the invention of radio put under huge doubt. However, the sly Italian is accused not only of the theft of foreign scientific developments, but also that he for a long time, giving interviews to all kinds of publications, famously betrayed for his own ideas and views of Nikola Tesla. It was also about wireless transmission of energy.

When asked which year the radio was invented, it is also possible to answer in two ways. In Russia, radio day is celebrated in May. However, then the wireless telegraph was invented, and the radio, in its usual form, appeared only in 1921.
