Who are the titles? The history of modern neologism

Who are the titles? An interesting, colorful term was the word-satellite of EuroMaidan. No mention of the revolutionary protest could not do without titles. Untransferable to other languages, the word suddenly became known and widely used far outside of Ukraine, whereas it appeared a few months before the emergence of the Maidan.

Titushki: the meaning of the neologism

This term was among the most popular neologisms by the end of 2013, as well as its ideological antonym "Euromaidan". So who are these titles? This is a collective image that arose and was needed to refer to young people (men) from a particular social stratum of society.

They are people of sports appearance, actively engaged in boxing or martial arts, consisting in sports clubs or in groupings. Civil activists and journalists established and proved that they were used by power structures (as well as the authorities themselves) to intimidate, disperse and create provocative actions in places of gathering people expressing disagreement with the policy of official authorities.

Vadim Titushko went down in history

To understand who are called titles, it is necessary to know, thanks to whom they appeared. In May 2013, in the center of Kiev, two opposing events took place: one was from the opposition, the other (as a contraction) - from the party of power (Party of Regions). Both rallies were quite numerous, they were attended by well-known journalists.

At some point a fight broke out between the participants, as a result of which the girl (a media representative) and another journalist were injured. During the investigation it was established that the instigator and provocateur was Vadim Titushko.

This young man got into the camera lenses at the time of the attack, and only because of this he was brought to justice. In September of the same year, this 20-year-old guy was awarded 3 years, which were replaced by 2 conditional ones. As for his personality, Vadim was in the sports club of Belaya Tserkov (near Kiev), practiced martial arts, had differences. In his environment, he was known as Vadim-Romanian.

His name Titushko has the form of a singular, but, in a collective way, transformed into a plural form. This is how they were labeled as aggressively-minded young people whom the incumbent authorities used informally to perform "black" and criminal work, namely: beating, intimidation, blackmail, kidnapping, robbery.

After the May events and the conviction of Vadim, perhaps the titles as a term would have gone into oblivion. However, they had to play their even more significant role in the historical events of the state of Ukraine.

Who are the titles in EuroMaidan? Street militants for 200 UAH per day

They appeared immediately after the formation of Euromaidan and became an unofficial, alternative militia and other security structures organization. Throughout the period of confrontation (from November 2013 to February 2014), titles were involved in the most criminal and criminal events. They kidnapped Maidan activists, burned their cars, beat, tortured, robbed, mocked. In addition, some of them took part in the murders, which is already proven to date.

Titushek was supplied from the south-east of the country, from where the top of the government came and where its representatives had a huge loyalty. The so-called titans acted together with the police, taking part in the dispersal of the Maidan and in the detention of its participants. Already at the end of the events, when the preponderance was clearly on the side of the protesters, members of the Party of Regions formed and sent to Kiev from these regions the whole railway train and bus columns, stuffed with titles.

However, thanks to the increased support from the society, these "tours" managed to be blocked even at the entrances to Kiev.

After those events in Ukraine, there was not a single person left who did not know who the titles were.

Vadim Titushko against the titles

Yes, that's what history is capable of. After the escape from the country of President Yanukovych Vadim Titushko appeared in the information space and protested against his "namesake". At the same time, he said that at one time he was mistaken, but now he supports EuroMeidan.

He, he said, would gladly have joined him, had it not been for a two-year ban on taking part in various political and public actions. The only thing he could do was to cut wood for activists of the Maidan and protect the entrances to the city from the influx of sportsmen. So Titushko did not let him go to Kiev.

After the Maidan

Assess the role of the titles still to come, because the investigation into mass killings, torture, abductions and bullying of peacefully protesting people is still going on. It is interesting that in the rhetoric of activists you can often hear about titles, when it comes to the most terrible, bloody events on the Maidan. That is, not even about the police or special forces, namely, titles. This means that they took an active part in the winter confrontations, and they were as scared as they were in the form of people.

That's all about who these titles are. In the course of the analysis of events it was established that to them mainly people from the eastern and southern regions of Ukraine have criminal records, problems with the law, unemployed and traders in gangster attacks. Interestingly, the participants of the Maidan easily distinguished them from other civilians in the characteristic manner of dressing (sports wear) and a special expression of a person completely devoid of intelligence. As someone said, these were ordinary gopnik, or gopot, as they are usually called in certain circles.
