Typically, the "American Dream" has a downside: most people who have not achieved success in a legal way, begin to assert themselves through the criminal path. That is why in a country dominated by democracy, there are a huge number of maniacs, brutal murderers and thugs. However, the most wanted criminal of the United States Whitey Bulger in a criminal environment occupied almost the first place in terms of credibility.

The fate of this gangster completely refutes the axiom, the essence of which boils down to the following: human life determines the environment in which he was brought up. It does not apply to James Whitey Bulger. Although he controlled a small area, his life was unique. Whitey Balger was charismatic, self-confident, strict and demanding in relation to his "colleagues" in the craft. He easily took away the lives of anyone who was capable of betrayal. It was for these qualities that Whitey Balger became the legendary Mafiosi who ran affairs under the guise of corrupt intelligence officers. How, then, did he turn from a normal boy into a criminal? Let's consider this question.

He was raised by a street

What is interesting Whitey Bulger? The biography of this genius of the underworld undoubtedly deserves a separate examination. He is a native of the city of Dorchester (Massachusetts). Born in 1929, Whitey Balger was born. His father was a Boston worker who once lost his hand.

Naturally, it was difficult to feed a large family to a person with such a physical handicap, and very soon the "cell of society" headed by him was on the verge of poverty. But social benefits helped to make ends meet . As a child James Whitey Bulger was by no means an exemplary boy: all his free time he disappeared in the street, where he regularly got into fights. Often it happened to him and steal. At the age of 10 he fled the house, and four years later he was in the police station for the first time. The cause for the drive was a robbery. He did not appear in school, he preferred to become a member of the "Trilistniki" youth group. After serving time, James Whitey Bulger, due to his majority, was forced to join the ranks of the US Air Force.

The beginning of the criminal path

Having given the debt to the Motherland, the young man did not come up with anything new, how to tackle the old. Once again, Whitey Balger, whose biography was taken as a basis, when the film "The Black Mass" was filmed, was in places not so remote. He was serving a sentence for taking hostages and robbery.

During the second imprisonment, the CIA staff offered Whitey to participate in a drug testing program for schizophrenia. He agreed. The offender had to take LSD tablets and other narcotic drugs, and in return he was reduced his sentence. Anyway, but Whitey Bulger (the gangster) spent nine years in prison. Having come to freedom, he returned to normal life for a while, even got a job as a janitor.

The leader of the gang

After some time, Whitey again began to gravitate toward criminal matters. He joined the ranks of the criminal group called Winter Hill Gang. At the turn of the 70-80-ies of the last century, this gang proved itself as the most cruel and bloody. However, the police still managed to imprison the leader of the gang, after which her new leader became Bulger.

Recruitment by special services

Under the guidance of Whitey, Winter Hill Gang began to control most of the market of sweepstakes and drugs in Boston.

For his conquest, the gangster had to commit a huge number of murders, and only 19 of them could be proved. Soon the secret services managed to recruit a criminal. Only this way he was able to deal with his affairs for a long time. His competitors went to prison one after another, and Whitey remained at large. Noteworthy is the fact that his brother was able to get into a big politics. Calm and measured life Bulger came to an end in the 90's, when a large-scale investigation was initiated against the gangster. He was charged with a large number of atrocities: murders, robberies, robberies. It seemed that he was isolated from society for many years, and maybe forever. But ... He manages to escape from law enforcement.

On the run

No wonder Whitey was called the most wanted criminal in the United States. It was not difficult for him to circle policemen and detectives. Bulger changed his name and used personal data of American Thomas Baxter, who lived in Massachusetts. He pretended to be 16 years old for him.

He led a quiet life of a pensioner. Moreover, he managed to open several bank deposits and extend the period of the driver's license. When the criminal was preparing to implement the plan, he suggested that he "join him" with his concubine, but she refused. But the gangster, without a long thought, offered his idea of another of his passion - a certain Catherine Greene, and she agreed. She was twenty years younger than Whitey. Despite this, they for many years were a happy couple who lived in Louisiana.

Gangster caught

But after many years the police still managed to get on the trail of the criminal. The arrest of Whitey Balger was held in the summer of 2011 in the California city of Santa Monica.

At that time, the gangster was already in his old age. The process of his capture was accelerated due to the fact that the authorities promised a solid reward to a man who knows where the most wanted criminal in the United States is. And this was eventually found.

The investigation was helped by a certain Anna Bjornsdottir, who was next to Whitey in Santa Monica. In the house of the offender found a firearm and a bunch of dollar bills.

Biography Whitey was a script for a full-length film. And the famous director Scott Cooper understood this. It was he who decided to film a crime movie called "The Black Mass". Whitey Bulger agreed to give several interviews in which he told his life story.
