Where is the Gulf of Ussuri?

Deep into the Russian lands are two gulfs of the Sea of Japan. One of them is the Amur River, and the second is the Ussuri Bay. Vladivostok is located just between them, on the outskirts of the long and wooded Murav'ev-Amursky peninsula. In this article we will introduce you to the Ussuri Bay and its numerous bays.

Ussuri Bay: photo and a brief geographical description

Cold, severe, uninhabited, but incredibly beautiful, - that's what the Ussuriisk Bay, located in the Far East of Russia, looks like. Nevertheless, on its shores there are several dozens of hotels, recreation centers and beaches, where you can relax and sunbathe in summer. Where is the Ussuri Bay? And what are its dimensions?

Ussuriysky Bay is located within the Primorsky Territory of Russia. It washes from the east the Murav'ev-Amursky peninsula, on which the city of Vladivostok is located. In comparison with its "brother" - the Amur Bay, it is much wider, deeper and ... colder. In winter, the northern waters of the bay, as a rule, freeze. Although the thickness of the ice cover is small.

Ussuriysky Bay has the following parameters:

  • Length - 67 km;
  • Width (maximum) - 55 km;
  • Depth (maximum) - 69 meters;
  • Total area - 1155 square meters. Km;
  • The length of the coastline is 243 km.

Recreational and tourist potential of the Ussuriysky Gulf

Bay Ussuriysk has a certain recreational and tourist potential. Dozens of campsites, hotels and recreation centers are located on its banks, where you can either stay in comfortable rooms or in wooden summer houses. The cost of a standard room for two here starts from 600 rubles per day.

Beaches and recreational areas on the shores of the Ussuri Bay are very popular among the residents of Vladivostok, primarily thanks to the clear sea and beautiful wild landscapes. In addition, local forests attract tourists with an abundance of edible mushrooms and berries. Passive beach holidays can be successfully combined with active hikes and forest walks.

The largest number of beaches and recreation areas is concentrated on the west coast of the bay, near the capes of Vilkova and Muravinoy. Along the entire coast is a highway, so you can easily reach any of the tourist bases by car at any time of the year.

Settlements on the shores of the Gulf

On the coast of the Ussuri Bay there are a number of settlements. The largest of them, of course, the city of Vladivostok - the main financial and cultural center of the Far East. In addition to it, on the shores of the bay is the city of Bolshoy Kamen, town. Shkotovo, two villages (Emar and Mysova) and three villages (Oleny, Rechitsa and Sukhodol).

What are the interesting places listed above? So, the city of Bolshoy Kamen, located on the eastern shore of the bay, is famous for the fact that the largest shipyard in Russia is being built here - Zvezda-DSME. In the city there is a bay, which is ideal for parking large ships.

But the village of Shkotovo can be attractive for tourists. In its vicinity there is a unique safari park in which live bears, owls, owls, deer, Amur tigers and other animals. The pride and flavor of the park is the Far Eastern leopard, brought here from the Czech Republic in 2016.

Bay of the Ussuri Bay

The coastline of the Ussuri Bay is thickly cut by bays and capes. Moreover, the eastern coast is much more dismembered.

In total there are several dozen bays of different sizes in the bay. Some of them have quite colorful and unusual names. Listed below are all the bays of the Ussuri Bay:

  • Podlyapolsky.
  • Five Hunters.
  • Ilmovaya.
  • Andreeva.
  • Sukhodol.
  • Telyakovsky.
  • Ant.
  • The Artist's Bay.
  • Emar.
  • Three piglets.
  • Azure.
  • Landing.
  • Glass.
  • Ermine.
  • Intermediate.
  • Patroclus.
  • Ajax.
  • Paris.

The largest of them is the bay Ant. It is located in the northern part of the bay. The bay is known for the fact that it contains one of the four gambling zones officially permitted in Russia. Another two of the bays of the Ussuri Bay should be told in more detail.

Bay Lazurnaya - beaches and music

On the west coast of the bay there is an elongated 3-km bay with the poetic name Lazurnaya (formerly called Shamora). It is known for its beaches, disco bars, cafes and attractions.

This is one of the most favorite places for recreation of residents of the city of Vladivostok. On the shore of Azure Bay are several boarding houses and tourist bases. In summer you can not only buy and sunbathe, but also swim in boats, mini-boats and water motorcycles. By the way, in 2016 the Azure Bay beach was included in the TOP-10 of the best beaches in Russia (according to the analytical edition of "TurStat").

And the bay of Shamora is closely connected ... with musical creativity. She is mentioned in the song of the popular rock band "Alisa", and one of the studio albums of "Mumiy Troll" is called "Shamora". In addition, the festival of the author's song "Primorsky Strings" has been held on the banks of the bay since 1976.

Unique Beach in the Glass Bay

On the western shore of the Ussuriysk Bay there is another very interesting bay - the Glass Bay. And this name is not by any chance. A few decades ago it was turned into a huge glass container dump. Thousands of broken bottles from beer, wine, vodka and other alcoholic beverages thickly covered almost the entire area of this tiny cove.

But nature on this particular example of irresponsible human behavior once again reminded the inhabitants of the Earth who is a full-fledged master here. In just a couple of decades, the sea waves were ground and polished glass to a perfectly smooth pebble.

Today the beach of the Glass Bay shines in the sun with all the colors of the rainbow. And now you can walk on it barefoot, absolutely not afraid to cut yourself against the sharp edges of the windows. After all, they are no longer here. No one! The sea element eliminated absolutely all traces of human recklessness.

It is curious that in our days the so-called "Steklyashka" beach is protected by the state as a valuable natural monument. It is regularly visited by both locals and travelers from other countries to relax and make a series of stunningly vivid and vibrant photographs.
