When is the Day of Scout celebrated in our country?

November 5 - Day of the military intelligence officer, perhaps, one of the most mysterious professions on Earth. The history of this holiday in our country originates in 2000. In Russia, the order of the Russian Defense Minister has marked the day of the scout since that date, the number and month were recorded later, in 2006, by presidential decree.

Why November 5?

The date when they celebrate the Day of the Scout in Russia is not accidental. This day is dated the secret order of the Revolutionary Military Council of the RSFSR, which included in the staff of the Field Staff the Registration Department - at that time the first main organ of military intelligence intelligence and counterintelligence of the Russian Republic. The formation of this particular structure can be considered the beginning of the emergence of Soviet, and later, Russian intelligence.

A bit of history

The need for valuable information, which gives certain advantages in a given case, has always existed, especially if it concerns the state advantage or the predominance in military operations. Intelligence activity gives the leadership of the state a noticeable preponderance and begins its existence hardly before such a form of interaction between people as war has appeared. Merchants, ambassadors and messengers, as well as residents of border regions, often became collectors of particularly important information in ancient times. Much later, legislative and legal bases were laid and entire structures began to appear that became prototypes of the modern intelligence service. An example is the Order of Secret Affairs of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich. According to this Order, special people carried out various assignments at the behest of the Tsar, for example, they watched ambassadors on foreign trips or carried out investigations on matters of national importance.

At the moment, the Supreme Intelligence Directorate, or the GRU for short, became a full-fledged successor to the Regrep created in 1918. Since its inception, the management has undergone several reorganizations. Today the GRU is a unified system that extensively covers all known methods of conducting reconnaissance both within Russia and beyond its territories. The role of the GRU can not be overestimated, because military intelligence makes a tangible contribution to the preservation of the state. It is not surprising that, with all the efficiency of this service, little is known, because the data it possesses are of national importance and often play a decisive role in making decisions about the country's security.

What kind of people are they?

As the "eyes and ears" of the army, the scouts of our country receive and analyze the military and political information emerging around Russia, make forecasts of the development of events and in time report to the highest authorities on the real and possible threats that affect the interests of the Russian Federation. Every day with a risk to life and often at the limit of opportunities scouts carry their quiet service. Unfortunately, the country, most likely, will never find out the majority of its heroes who, with high patriotism and dedication, serve their lives by placing the interests of the Fatherland above their own. But such is the payment for the highest secrecy of the extracted information, and therefore they are worthy of their own professional holiday, and it is called the Day of the Scout. These people include the personnel of the units of the Main Intelligence Agency (GRU), soldiers of the urgent and contract service, officers of the junior and commanding officers, heads of the General Staff.
