Day of Housing Workers: all the fun about the holiday

It so happened that some holidays in Russia are celebrated twice. The people do not mind celebrating both Catholic and Orthodox Christmas, and the New Year in a new and old style in general is a matter of course. Representatives of some professions by virtue of a combination of circumstances have more than one holiday. The Day of Housing Workers is one of the most striking examples, the date of its celebration for half a century was repeatedly transferred, and the service itself was organized in the seventeenth century.

A bit of history

Since the reign of Alexei Mikhailovich, or rather, since April 1649, there was in Russia the Order of the City Deanery, which at the legislative level was prescribed to maintain courtyards in order. Peter the Great in 1721 and at all transferred the functions of the so-called "public good deed" to the department of the police already organized by that time.

About the organization of housing and communal services, close to the version that still exists, the Bolsheviks, who inherited from tsarist Russia for the first time palaces, mansions and estates, first began to think about, in which later museums and schools, houses of culture, as well as various organizations of the new Mode. Care required parks, especially those in whose territory were the fountains.

The quality of the services then provided can only be surmised. On that day, housing workers almost did not exist. Representatives of the proletariat mastered unfamiliar professions for themselves, without skilled mentors and teachers, except for janitors whose work did not require special skills.

When and how did the Day of Housing Workers

Since 1966, on the fourth Sunday in July, the Day of Trade Workers, Consumer Services and Housing and Communal Services are beginning to celebrate in the USSR. By this time the industry is already sufficiently developed and a number of educational institutions are training specialists in the relevant professions.

In November 1988, a number of changes were made to the legislation of the USSR concerning professional holidays and memorable dates. From now on, for communal workers, trade workers and representatives of the service sector, the day of celebration is postponed to the third Sunday in March. The subsequent changes that took place in 2013 related to the marking of the Day of Trade as a separate holiday. Now it should be celebrated on the fourth Saturday of July. The day of workers in housing and communal services and consumer services was not postponed, it is celebrated, as before, in March.

Just to be a representative of the municipal service

Work related to serving the population has always been considered difficult. This is partly because, using water or electricity, we just do not notice it. The mechanism is adjusted due to the fact that for today, housing and communal services in Russia about 2 million people.

The cleaned house territory, well-kept flower beds, modern playgrounds, a properly working elevator, repaired entrances, we take for granted. And if suddenly something is wrong, then you can also remember about communal services.

A leaking faucet or sparkling wiring immediately causes negative emotions. It is at this moment that we remember the existence of communal services. And if the brigade that serves a large territory suddenly stopped, then there is no limit to the outrage.

But how we rejoice when the repair is over. And immediately forget about the communal services until the next breakdown.

Workers in the sphere of consumer services get much less negativity, because they are being repaired and repaired their personal belongings, rather than common property, and they do not need to pay a monthly maintenance fee.
