Cat-werewolves - a new breed: description, photo

Cats-werewolves are known even under the name "face". The word translated from Greek means "wolf". The name of these cats was not accidental, because there is an external resemblance to a mystical werewolf. Although in fact they are one of the varieties of the mutation of the domestic shorthair cat.

Likoy is not a "designer breed." These cats were not bred specially. They appear due to a natural mutation that originated in the domestic cat population. They lack the genes of thoroughbreds, although many still mistakenly believe that this breed is closely related to the Canadian Sphinx.

History of the appearance of the breed

Mutation has occurred in domestic cats in the last 20 years. The breed was founded in 2011. Its authors are Johnny Gobble, Brittney Gobble and Patty Thomas. Their cats brought kittens with a very interesting exterior. The Gobble couple conducted a thorough assessment of the health of the toddlers to ensure that the unusual appearance of the animals was not provoked by the disease.

In order to prove that the cause of the unusual appearance of the kittens is a mutational gene, Johnny Gobble crossed two unrelated individuals with the intention of producing the first litter with a characteristic exterior. In September 2011, the first kitten of this breed appeared, the girl, who was named by Datsiana. To date, the lycos have not gained widespread popularity. In the world there are only 7 breeders of cats-werewolves.

Characteristics of character

Cat-werewolves are very intelligent animals. They are able to get their own food. Hunters by nature, they always show whether they are determined or just playing with prey. It is a sociable breed that likes to be with people. However, they feel quite comfortable playing alone with any toy in the room. You can not be afraid and start a few individuals of this breed. They get along well with each other.

Sometimes it seems that these cats have the character of a cheerful and energetic dog. They love active pastime and have an unlimited supply of energy. Cats-werewolves protect their masters and toys, but they are able to share when they are asked. The strong and fearless character of the cats of the new breed of "werewolves" allows them to rush to defend their master without the slightest hesitation. First they are careful with any new pet or person, make sure that they do not threaten them or the house.

They have established themselves as a hardy, healthy breed that will create other subspecies more competition in the exhibition hall.

Breed Exterior

A new breed, a werewolf cat, has an interesting appearance. These are partially naked animals with a unique color. A woolen cover is a combination of soft white wool and a hard black coat. Color can vary from practically black to white. The more white hair in the woolen coat, the lighter the cat will be.

Partial bald patches are unique in every specimen of the breed. These cats can be almost completely naked or covered with wool, except for small areas on the body. But most of their wool cover at least once will almost completely fall out during molting. Around the eyes, chin, nose, muzzle and the back of the ears, they always have hair. On the paws it is quite rare, often almost absent. The skin is pink, but in sunlight it can darken to black in just a few days. If the amount of sunlight is reduced, the skin will return to the original shade again. Judging by the photo, werewolf cats have a really unusual exterior.

Males are much larger than females. The ears have a wide base, they are high and sharp. The body is not bulky, but lean. The tail is short. These traits give these cats a similarity to wolves. Kittens are born with a solid black color, and in one or two weeks there are bald spots.

How to care for a "werewolf" cat ?

Despite the fact that the werewolf is a new breed, it does not require special care. The thing is that the leeches originated from a simple domestic, not thoroughbred animal. They eat ordinary food, both natural and dry food. A new breed, the werewolf is not choosy. Representatives of it can safely use the same bedding and sleep in the same rest house as ordinary pets. Problems with teaching to the tray-toilet does not arise. It all works on the level of instincts.

Features of care

But there are several simple requirements for caring for a "werewolf" cat. You need to clean your ears and claws. Just use a soft cloth and regularly, as far as contamination, wipe the cat's ears. These animals also need to be protected from cold and sunlight, because their effect on the delicate skin of the werewolf is much stronger than, for example, on the skin of an individual of another breed. Due to the fact that the skin of the domestic cats of the breed "werewolf" is very delicate and sensitive, combing them should be extremely careful not to cause discomfort to the pet or injure it.

The woolen coat becomes more dense in winter. In summer, the skin of domestic cats of the breed "werewolf" needs additional protection. The scientists studied stray glee from the wild colonies and noticed that in the winter they do not suffer from re-walking, and in the summer from burns.

This breed is not hypoallergenic, so people who are allergic to cats will also react to the exultation. A small number of people who have an allergy claim that their new breed cat "werewolf" does not cause any problems with their health, but these are isolated cases.

How to feed a "werewolf" cat?

To maintain the health of the cat you need a balanced and balanced diet. Remember that for the health of your pet should follow two simple rules:

  • Adhere to acceptable standards of food intake, avoid overfeeding.
  • Prepare a balanced meal.

Remember, if you feed a cat of the new breed "werewolf" with natural food, you should carefully think through the menu and select vitamins and minerals that will fill the lack of nutrients in the body. Vets advise to purchase ready-made feed in pet stores. This will not only have a positive effect on the health and appearance of the pet, but it will save your time.

It is important to know that food should not be too hot or cold. Feeding the cat follows food at room temperature, it will help in future to avoid problems with the digestive system of the animal. It is desirable to feed the pet at the same time, so that the animal develops a conditioned reflex.

Health

Cats-werewolves have a cheerful disposition, endurance and strong health. Breeders claim that a genetic anomaly that causes a partial loss of hair is not accompanied by any health problems. For the sake of justice, it should be noted that to this day no animal has been identified by the sick. However, this is a very young breed that appeared a few years ago, so scientists and breeders do not have enough data to state with complete certainty that the mutation will not be accompanied by other potential problems.

Since the origin of the werewolf breed is related to domestic short-haired pets, with the exception of a genetic anomaly that causes hair problems, their gene pool is considered strong and healthy. It is not associated with any other inherited health problems.

Is it possible to classify a werewolf as a breeding breed?

Currently, this breed is recognized by the TICA (International Cat Association) only for registration, which means that it has passed the first stage of obtaining formal recognition, but at the moment, as such, can not be shown at exhibitions. GCCF in the UK today does not recognize this variety of pets.

In our country, few have heard of such animals and have hardly even seen a photo of a werewolf cat. But we can safely assume that in the coming years and in our country there will be connoisseurs and lovers of this unique breed.
