What to choose: plinth for stretch ceiling or camouflage tape?

The design of the stretch ceiling is quite simple, but it is unlikely to be mounted independently. But in terms of fastening, it requires much less work, in contrast to gypsum boards, since the profile for fixing the ceiling cloth is located only around the perimeter of the room. However, in the design there is one small detail - a gap between the canvas and the wall, which remains after installation, and if it is not closed, the ceiling does not get aesthetic appearance. There are two ways to solve this problem:

• A special masking tape, which is inserted into the groove of the profile of the fastening of the blade;
• Plinth for stretch ceiling, which is attached to the glue to the wall.

With the first option, everything is clear: in order to close the slot, it is enough to cut the tape to its size and, with a little effort, insert it into the groove of the profile. Although there are several nuances that should be considered when choosing this material:

1. A ribbon of ceiling color will visually expand its area.
2. A ribbon for the color of the walls will make them visually higher.
3. The contrasting tape will highlight the ceiling, but at the same time emphasize all the unevenness of the walls, so they must be perfect.

But to install a plinth for a stretch ceiling, you will first need to determine the material and shape of this element of the ceiling decor.

Types of skirting boards for glossy ceilings

Today in building stores a wide range of shapes and colors of this material is presented: plastic and polyurethane, narrow and wide, for painting and with the coloring for wood and stone. So even the most finicky buyer can taste a baseboard for stretch ceilings. However, the polyurethane plinth has an advantage over the plastic because it is easy to repaint.

As with any other design, there are different rules:

1. Qualitative gluing will be achieved only if the wall is perfectly even and clean.
2. The plinth for the stretched ceiling should ideally be combined with the canvas in color and style.
3. Without the experience of such work, it is better not to risk sticking the plinth on your own, and entrust it to a specialist.
4. Painting the skirting is better before gluing it to the wall.
5. Glue the plinth for the stretch ceiling before the wallpaper is hung.
6. It is strictly forbidden to glue the plinth to the canvas of the ceiling!
7. The corners of the plinth are cut using a hacksaw and a special tool - a chair.
8. Slots in the joints are sealed with putty or sealant.

Choosing a masking tape or plinth under the suspended ceiling, you need to remember that this is an important decorative element, and it should not "overload" the overall picture of the room, but only to emphasize the splendor of the luxurious ceiling finish. It should also be noted that a qualitatively glued plinth can last a long time and survive more than one wallpaper update.
