What is the skin horn?

Not everyone represents what a skin horn is and how it looks. In fact, this disease, which manifests itself in the formation of a protrusion on the skin. The structure of the skin horn is quite hard, and in appearance acquires a cylindrical shape. This new growth can reach 5 centimeters in height. In medicine, the division of this disease into two main types:

  1. Primary (it is also called true).

  2. Secondary.

If the primary type is only a consequence of changes in the body related to age and is classified as standard, then the development of the secondary indicates the progression of chronic warts or papillomas and transforming them into another form. The skin horn can appear in as consequences of tuberculosis, lupus, keratoma.

Most often, cornified epithelial cells form the skin horn in elderly people, for 60 years. And the place of his education, as a rule, is the face, neck or scalp. In some cases, development of hard keratinized particles on the mucosa or on the body is observed. But smokers should not be surprised if the disease manifests itself in the mouth.

It should be noted that this is a long illness, during which a change in the nature of education is possible. That is, a benign skin horn can eventually transform into a malignant one. The cone-shaped horn does not change its primary diameter, but it grows in height, but very slowly. The danger is that, due to the development of such a seemingly insignificant disease, there is a threat of diagnosing skin cancer in the future. Often this happens because of the influence of external factors, for example, the environment, but hereditary predisposition plays no less important role.

Therefore, at the first signs of the appearance of the cutaneous horn, you should immediately consult a doctor who can take all the necessary tests and establish the cause of his appearance. By biopsy, one can judge the nature of the disease, because they identify true and false species. The true form presupposes the presence of papillae and can become a threat to the development of cancer cells, and the false appearance of such papillae does not and is less dangerous.

Once diagnosed, treatment can be carried out. The cutaneous horn is best removed even if it is not dangerous to human health. After all, the fact that at the moment the keratinized cells do not transform into a cancerous tumor, does not mean that this state of affairs will persist for the rest of your life. In addition, there is still a personal perception, since for most people the skin horn on the face delivers a lot of unpleasant sensations from an aesthetic point of view. But to approach the process of disposal is extremely responsible.

Cutaneous horn: removal.

To date, there are many technologies in the field of painless removal of keratinized tissues. If before surgery to remove the cutaneous horn was strictly surgical, that is, the area of dead tissue was cut out, now a completely new technology based on the use of a laser is successfully used .

In modern medical practice, most specialists resort to surgical removal of the horn only in the case of a serious development of the disease or the achievement of a precancerous stage. At the same time, there are no guarantees of excluding relapse in the future, that is, that the disease will not return.

If the disease is at an early stage, then the laser therapy method is used. Laser technology has appeared relatively recently, but has already become widespread in many countries. The main advantage of the modern method of treatment is the absence of scars on the skin after the operation, as well as the exclusion of recurrent cases.
