What is the harm of smoking for teenagers?

To date, Russia is leading in terms of the number of people who use tobacco. According to data for 2012, about 65% of men and 30% of women are smokers. The same sad statistics states: Russia ranks first in nicotine addiction among children.

The harmfulness of smoking for adolescents is a topic that is not just about discussing, it is necessary to shout about it publicly. Adult people who know about the harmful effects of tobacco on health have already made their choice. But to protect children from this dangerous disease is of paramount importance.

To begin with, the harm of smoking for adolescents is incomparably greater than for people who have reached adulthood. The child's organism is receptive to poisons contained in a cigarette. Vulnerable nerve cells of the child under the influence of poisonous substances are depleted, thereby reducing cognitive abilities and causing rapid fatigue, both physical and mental.

In addition, the lion's share of smokers makes their first puffing up at the age of 18. And the mortality among such people is higher than those who "met" with nicotine, being an adult. Pathologies of the respiratory organs are more often developed in smokers from the "school bench".

As you know, nicotine thinens the walls of blood vessels, while thickening the blood. At a young age, problems with the cardiovascular system are rare, so children often do not feel negative consequences for their health. But the harm of smoking for adolescents is obvious: it is in childhood that all systems of the body become established and tuned. When poisonous substances are roughly invaded in these processes, there is underdevelopment of organs, a decrease in muscle tone, a noticeable slowdown in growth.

Especially from smoking eyes suffer, since capillaries supplying them with nutrients, under the influence of nicotine spasmodic, atrophy and cease to fulfill their transport function for the delivery of oxygen. At the child, subject to nicotine addiction, vision sharply worsens.

Also, the harm of smoking for adolescents is to increase intraocular pressure. Smoke, eroding the mucous membrane of the visual analyzer, contributes to the early development of glaucoma. There are also cases of so-called tobacco amblyopathy - blindness caused by this "bad habit".

Speaking about the dangers of smoking for adolescents, we can not fail to mention the activation of the thyroid gland, which leads to an increase in heart rate, an increase in body temperature and sleep disturbance. The hormonal imbalance inherent in the child during puberty, due to smoking is exacerbated.

Health problems caused by nicotine addiction arise in almost all body systems, since the poisons contained in a cigarette are carried by blood throughout the body.

The dangers of smoking for children and adults need to know every person. The problem of the emergence of this dependence is the total illiteracy of the population from a medical point of view. While children will hear that smoking is bad, but to see around smoking adults - this problem will remain unresolved. Educational anti-tobacco work in educational institutions and the family should be combined with the creation of a positive image of a non-smoker.
