The history of the "Victory Garden" in Chelyabinsk

The park is the same age as ChTZ - it was broken in the 1930s on the site of a birch grove. At that time, it did not have a definite name - it was also called the ChTZ Park, the garden of the tractor plant, and the garden of the socialist city of ChTZ.

In wartime the park was completely abandoned. In this state, he was in the fifties too - goats grazed on his lawns, the fence fell in places and only the central alley was illuminated. In 1965, the district executive committee of Tractorozavodsky district decided to assign the present name "Victory Garden" to the nameless park, in honor of the 20th anniversary of the end of the Great Patriotic War. In 1975, on the main avenue was opened a monument to the "Defenders of the Fatherland" - a Soviet worker and soldier.
