What is the fan switch and how is it arranged?

There are often cases when on hot summer days on the roadside there are boiling VAZs and GAZel. Often this problem concerns domestic cars, as they have a less reliable cooling system than foreign cars. However, in any case, when the engine is overheated , the fan switch is activated, which activates the blades. Capturing the cold flow of air, the mechanism sends it to the boiled motor, thereby cooling it. And since it is absolutely impossible to pour water on an overheated engine from above, the only salvation in such cases is a fan.

How is the sensor connected to it?

Everything is very simple. The fan switch is the part responsible for activating the latter when the critical engine temperature is reached. Such a device is supplied with absolutely all cars. In particular, there is a sensor for switching on the VAZ-2110 fan and other models of domestic cars.

Location and operating principle

There is this mechanism near the radiator, in front of the car. Actually, the fan itself is immediately placed there. The sensor measures the temperature of the engine and, if necessary, switches on the necessary mechanism for forced cooling of the motor.

For the most part, the fan blades are in the ON state. The exception is the operation at minus temperatures. In such cases, some motorists even install a flat piece (most often a piece of cardboard) between the grille and the radiator, preventing the penetration of cold air into the engine compartment.

In summer, the air freely penetrates into the car through a grille and an air intake. However, if the sensor finds that this stream is too small, it will give an electrical signal to the fan. He forcefully sucks in air, which penetrates into the engine compartment 2 times faster. Thus, the temperature of the engine will always be on the green scale, and the risk of overheating will decrease to zero.

This will happen until the fan switch is damaged. Then the engine is overheated . And here comes the answer to the global question of why domestic cars boil more often than imported cars. The fact is that the fan switch for the Russian car can not boast such reliability, as, for example, German and American. Everything would be fine if VAZ could work with imported parts. And so it becomes unpredictable. On what crossroads the car will boil, it is impossible to predict. Therefore, it is best to keep a set of new parts next to not go back to the tow truck. Overheating is a very serious matter, so it is not a fact that after cooling the unit will not be covered with micro cracks.

Cost

And a few words about the price. To date, a sensor for the inclusion of a fan VAZ can be purchased for 130-140 rubles. On imported machines the cost of parts is as always a little higher - up to 200 rubles. At such a price it's a sin not to get a set of spare sensors for the car.
